LILA’S POV
The banging on the door woke me from my slumber.
For a moment, I thought I was dreaming, then, with another bang, reality embraced me with its sharp claws.
I dragged myself out of the bed and opened the door. However, the force with which the person on the other side pushed the door made me fall.
“Ah!” a cry escaped my lips as my ass slammed on the cold, hard floor.
A lady walked into the room. She was very pretty, and her light brown eyes were almost predatory. She looked around the room as anger and disbelief slowly became written all over her face.
Then her eyes focused on me.
“So, it’s you. You’re his new plaything,” she said with a tone of wonder. I slowly stood up and tried to hold her gaze, but she was taller than I was and looked very dangerous.
Should I run? Should I scream? I had no idea what to do.
“Five years we’ve been together. Not even once did he bring me in here. This is the room he used to share with Dianna, his dead mate. It’s been locked since she was… well, since she died. What made you so special that he would pry these doors open?” she asked with a tone of curiosity.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I fumbled while I took steady steps back as she approached.
“I left my mate for him. I was so madly in love with Alpha Raze that I did the unthinkable. I broke my mate bond just to have a future with him and you have come to destroy all of my efforts?” she chuckled.
At that point, I knew I was in real danger. Running would be the only choice I had.
“You cannot be allowed to thrive here. I have to get rid of you vermin. Now!” she said, and her claws popped out.
I gasped and fell as her strike missed its mark on my face. Dragging myself on the ground with whimpers escaping my lips, I tried to get away. But she grabbed my leg and drew me back.
“You don’t even have powers? I was expecting you’d at least put up a fight,” she mocked me while she prepared for another attack.
I braced myself as my life flashed before my eyes. Dying on some foreign pack wasn’t part of my plans. I shut my eyes as I accepted my fate. Then the lady charged, and I heard a whooshing sound.
My eyes slowly opened as I saw Alpha Raze holding the lady’s hand in midair.
“Semira, enough!” Alpha Raze yelled at her, his eyes showing full yellow. The lady, Semira, cowered before Alpha Raze. No werewolf could resist the command from their alpha.
Alpha Raze looked at me as I struggled to breathe from the tension. Quite literally.
I saw my vision blurring, senses dampening, and the last thing I saw before I passed out was an expression of horror on Alpha Raze’s face.

My eyes opened while I felt a sharp headache. I groaned as my fuzzy mind began to gather its thoughts.
As I rolled over on the bed to get up, I remembered that I had passed out.
Sniffling, I looked around. The room, as far as I could see, was empty.
Then I tried to move my legs and suddenly felt shackles binding them.
My heart skipped a beat while I gazed at the large chains that bound my legs to the bedposts. As my terror climaxed, I realized that there was also a huge neck chain on me, one that I didn’t notice before.
“Help! Somebody help me!!” I screamed out as my blood ran cold. Who would tie me up like this? What did I do?
“It’s of no use screaming. They don’t want you out of those chains,” Alpha Raze suddenly said to me. I turned to the corner of the room where he was standing in the dark.
How did I miss him earlier?
“They? What’s going on? What have you done to me?” I questioned. Then, slowly, Alpha Raze came into view and I saw three large claw marks on his face.
My eyes opened wide at the depth of these wounds. How was he still standing?
“What’s the last thing you remember?” Alpha Raze asked me. I racked my brain for my memories.
“I remember getting attacked by, um, Semira. Then...” I struggled as the headache returned. “... then, you saved me and I-I must have passed out. I don’t remember anything else,” I confessed honestly.
Alpha Raze approached the bed and gazed at me with curious eyes. I blushed under his gaze, but I knew something was wrong.
“Have you transformed into a wolf before now?” His question threw me off guard, and I let out a fit of laughter in response.
“If I had a wolf, what would I be doing here with you?” I asked him. The words seemed to hurt his pride, but he gave me no response.
He kept gazing at me like he was trying to figure something out.
Just then, the door to the bedchamber opened, and the young man from earlier stepped into the room with two other werewolves.
“Alpha Raze, the Council is waiting,” he said.
“Alright, Matt,” Alpha Raze said to the young man. I frowned in confusion as he began to unlock my chains.
“What council? What’s going on?” I questioned, but Alpha Raze said nothing. As I looked at the other werewolves, I could see the look of urgency and fear on their faces, like they were ready to attack me at any given time.
“Alpha Raze, what’s happening?” I asked again while he snapped the chain binding my legs open. Alpha Raze turned to me and sighed.
“You’ve only spent a day here and you’ve already made my life a living hell. I should have stuck with my decision when I rejected you. Why did I bring you with me?” He muttered to me, and for the first time, I could sense defeat in his tone.
I could barely breathe.
“Take her away,” Alpha Raze ordered and the werewolves, threading with caution, took me out of the bed and led me out of the room.
What the heck was going on?
