Old bonds, and new love

Lila's POV My head buzzed with so many questions while they led me towards another part of the large mansion. Along the way, I could see the looks of fear, disgust and resentment that the werewolves we passed by gave to me. It reminded me so much of home, back at the Iron Hand pack. I tried to shut it all out by focusing on my breath, but it wasn’t working. We soon arrived at a large hall and I saw a crescent of seats that were occupied by six elderly werewolves. I was dragged to the center of the hall and forced to kneel. “Ouch...” I cried out as my knees hit the floor. They began to bleed immediately. As Alpha Raze took his seat at the highest point, the elders turned their eyes on me. “So, this is the one? She looks harmless,” a male elder said. “Looks can be deceiving. How did she manage to do that to Semira if she was harmless?” Another elder countered. Others began to whisper amongst themselves while my heart raced in my chest. Alpha Raze’s eyes were fixated on me. “We shall wait for the Oracle to bring us news about what she is. In the meantime, my daughter, Semira, is fighting for her life in the infirmary. Her body has been disfigured beyond recognition, and it would take a miracle from the moon goddess for her to survive,” a woman suddenly spoke out and everyone else fell to a hush. She gave me a death stare before she gazed at Alpha Raze. “Alpha, you brought this monstrosity into this pack as a wife. Her actions are your responsibility. You were supposed to control your pet!” the woman groaned. “Do not speak to me about control, councilwoman Kate. I know what my duties are. And until the Oracle provides more information about what we’re dealing with, I suggest you watch your tone,” Alpha Raze said to her in a dark tone. He was terrifying at that point. The woman backed down and glanced at me again. I didn’t even know what was happening. What happened to Semira? What did I do? The door opened, and a little girl stepped inside. “The Oracle has nothing yet. She has pleaded for more time,” the little girl announced. “Then we shall adjourn this meeting immediately. Take the prisoner back to her room,” Alpha Raze said and pointed to me. “Prisoner? I don’t understand. I am not a prisoner! What’s going on here?” I spoke out. Elder Kate walked up to me and slapped me. “You’re lucky to be alive, you monster!” She yelled at me as the werewolves took me away. As questions danced in my head, I began to wonder what my fate was. Tears streamed down my eyes, but then I perceived a scent that I had not sensed for a very long time. And how were my senses so strong? “Lila?” a male voice called to me. We stopped as Vannik, my childhood friend, approached. He had gotten taller and more muscular over the years. Last I heard about him, he became Alpha of a pack by conquest. “Vannik! It’s so good to see you!” I exclaimed as the tears fell. “What’s going on here? Where are they taking you? Unhand her immediately!” Vannik fumed. “This is not your pack. Best you keep your manners, Alpha Vannik,” Matt said to him, and Vannik growled. His followers all began to growl, and I could feel the tension in the air. “Alpha Vannik! Let’s speak in my study,” Alpha Raze suddenly called out. Then they dragged me away. I turned back to gaze at Vannik, but it was Alpha Raze’s eyes that met with mine. Was this truly my end? ALPHA RAZE’S POV “This is not your pack. Do not ever bark orders at my werewolves,” I warned Alpha Vannik while we stepped into my study. Since he became Alpha by conquest, he has harboured this desire to conquer my pack as well. But all werewolves knew that I was not to be messed with. Even him. “They were dragging Lila like she’s a criminal. What’s going on?” Vannik questioned me while I took my seat. “That is none of your concern. You requested a meeting with me, Alpha Vannik. What do you want?” I quickly changed the topic. Lila’s predicament was haunting me enough as it was. The things I saw her do to Semira, the power she unleashed, it all shook me to the core. I had to distract myself so that I could think properly. “You have been trespassing in my territory. The Collar Creek is a property of the Dagger Claw Pack,” Vannik said to me and I arched a brow. “That Creek was gifted to the Blood Moon Pack centuries ago by your pack as a symbol of peace between us. We use that creek for ceremonious reasons. It is not your property anymore,” “But it exists within my territory. And your pack was permitted to use it, not own it. And now, as the Alpha, I revoke that permission,” Vannik said to me. I could sense my anger rising. How dare he? “I have the letter sealed by blood to back up my claims. Plus, history is on my side. What do you have, Alpha Vannik?” I asked him. He frowned. “The next time you step into my territory, I will see that as an act of war, Alpha Raze,” Vannik responded. “Do not threaten me, Alpha Vannik. I will crush your pack before your very eyes. In the meantime, I suggest that you go back home and think about this foolishness you’ve just displayed. Maybe that will save you from a senseless death.” my words seemed to strike a nerve for he banged my table and stood up in a fit of anger. “They might call you the Alpha king, but I am not afraid of you,” he said to me. “You should be,” I replied. Then, he scoffed and walked towards the door. After a deep sigh, he turned to me. “I think I’ll hang around for a while. I want to see what you’ll do with Lila,” he added and stepped out of the room. The moment I heard her name, my senses all tuned up. I closed my eyes as I imagined her face. My organ began to swell in anticipation of me ravaging her body. “No!” I snapped. I should not be thinking about that. She’s dangerous. But then I fell back to the imagination. I felt truly bewitched. But what would the Oracle reveal? What’s taking so long?
