“Well?” Ferne asked, “Have you decided? Are you gonna read it or not?”
“I’ll read it,” Alex replied, an idea coming to mind.
Ferne sighed in relief. She was worried that Alex would be too stubborn to compromise. She smiled and said, “Good. You can take this setback for now. Tolerating them will do you a lot of good in the long run.”
Alex did not respond this time. Nothing she said could his mind.
Ferne asked a staff member to switch the broadcasting device on. Alex approached the microphone, took a deep breath, and started to talk.
As Alex delivered his speech, Ferne gaped in shock and disbelief.
No one expected that his announcement would shock the entire school and raise a storm.
This morning, all the students in Hanley High School had received a text message from Alex.
