Alex opened his eyes in alarm.
“No, no, no! I’m gonna be late!”
He got up from his bed in a hurry. There was no time to brush his teeth. He dressed up and grabbed his backpack before rushing out of the door.
Ugh, I’m a horrible class monitor! Late on the first day! he thought anxiously.
It was 8:15, and Alex ran wildly through the school grounds and passed by the buildings in a flash.
Alex was panting when he finally reached the classroom. The first class began at 8:00. He was already late.
He held the wooden frame as he caught his breath. “I... I’m sorry...” he said, looking up.
Alex was stunned by the sight.
“Wait, what happened?”
The entire class was standing. Mann, Pike, Hertha, and Jon were in the front of the room. Their heads were lowered as if they were being punished.
