THE HORROR TUNNEL

This incident happened when I was posted in the hilly area of ??Shimla. It had been only a few days since I had come here. I used to return home early every day but the scariest day of my life came when one day I had a lot of work in the office. All my colleagues had left. I was working alone in the entire office. I did not know when it was 12 o'clock at night. By the time my work was over, it was 1:30 in the night. I was tired and thought that I should leave for home now. There is a hilly area on the way to my house and then I get a road through a dark one kilometer long tunnel. Although I do not believe in ghosts, but there is a discussion about that tunnel in the entire office. Everyone believes that an old member of our office had committed suicide there. Since then that place has become haunted. I did not pay attention to all these things, considering them to be rumours, but I don't know why today I am feeling something strange as soon as I leave the office. Everything had become deserted at night. Even the dog outside the office is not visible today. I closed the office gate and went towards my bike. The bike did not start at once. I got a little scared but then the bike started. I remembered God and went ahead. The whole road was deserted. No one was coming or going. The trees on the roadside looked scary in the pitch dark. But I was just driving my bike and thinking in my mind that somehow I should reach home safely today. The tunnel also came in no time. It was 2:05 by now. As soon as I entered the tunnel, I was feeling very scared. I was thinking that I do not know what will happen to me today. I was about to cross half of the tunnel when suddenly I saw something on the other side. I got stunned for a moment. I could not understand what it was. I was feeling very scared now. I was remembering all my God in my mind. Oh God, somehow save me today. I increased the speed of the bike. The speed will not go less than 70. I just wanted to get out somehow. I looked back. I was just driving the bike. It felt strange to me. I also heard a voice like someone was calling my name. His voice sounded familiar. I somehow reached the last corner of the road and then I felt relieved. I did not reduce the speed of the bike. I started thinking that from today onwards I will never come through this route at night, no matter what happens. What everyone in the office said was true. There was definitely someone's shadow present there. Even today I get scared remembering that night. Maybe god had protected me, otherwise what would have happened to me that night? Since then, on the advice of my wife, I always keep a small Hanuman Chalisa in my pocket.
