We walked out of the class, hands intertwined. We were heading to our second class, biology.
We walked in with our signature diva style and took our seat at the back row.
There was a guy sitting next to Laurey, they were vibing and chatting like they've known each other for years. He looked at me and smiled.
"Hey.... You're the new student, right?" he brought out his hand for a handshake.
I accepted his hand. "Yeah... I'm Lexi; it's nice to meet you."
"I'm Dylan. I heard of what you did with Ms. Cathy... it was cool. I like you already." He winked at me.
I blushed, feeling shy all of a sudden. "It was really nothing."
We started chatting about a lot of things, my stunt with Ms. Cathy, Dylan being in the basketball team and so on. Our conversation was interrupted by the biology teacher entrance.
"Good morning class." He greeted with a smile.
"Good morning Mr. Dennis." The whole class chorused.
"So... today we're gonna talk on genetics. Bring out your notes and biology textbooks."
He was about to turn to the board to write the notes and our eyes locked. He smiled knowingly and cleared his throat.
"Looks like we have a new student."
Immediately the words left his mouth, everyone turned their attention towards me and I could only wave shyly.
"Please come out and introduce yourself." He gestured his hand for me to come forward.
Aissh... "please," as if I have a choice.
I walked up to the front of the class and stood beside the teacher.
'Oh... that's the girl that stood up to Ms. Cathy today.'
'Wow! She's so pretty look at her hair.'
There were a lot of hushed talks about me and guys giving me signals and smirking at me.
I cleared my throat. "My name is Lexi and I just moved in from Chicago. I love singing, dancing and reading. Thank you." I bowed my head respectfully.
I was about heading to my seat when the teacher stopped me.
"Your accent doesn't sound American." He looked at me.
Seriously? What is wrong with this man and my accent?
"Uhmm... yes, I'm mixed blood. My mum is from Korean and my dad is American." I replied politely.
"Wow! That's nice... you can take your seat." He said with a smile.
"gamsahamnida!" I replied with a smile. "It means thank you in Korea."
I quickly hurried back to my seat and sat down.
The class continued and he gave us assignments and projects. Imagine having a pile of assignments on your first day. How wicked can these teachers be?
The class was almost coming to an end when the door swung open and a student walked in.
"You're late Mr. Jackson." Mr. Dennis reprimanded.
I looked up to see the person and my breath got stuck in my throat. It felt like I was hit with a lightning and thunder bolt all at once. The guy in front of me was just breathtaking.
He wasn't the type of guy you gradually noticed – he was the kind you saw all at once. Sharp jawline, clean and defined, like it had been carved with purpose. High cheekbones that gave his face this effortless, model-like structure. His skin was warm, sun-kissed brown, smooth in a way that made the light catch on it just right.
His hair was messy in a perfect way – dark slightly wavy, falling over his forehead like it refused to be tamed. And then there were his eyes. Oh God. Deep brown, intense, steady... the kind of eyes that didn't wander around the room like everyone else's. They landed. They locked. They paid attention.
Even his lips were unfair – full, soft-looking, naturally pink, the type that made a girl's brain stop working for a second.
He looked like trouble wrapped in beauty – confident, quiet, a little intimidating, but painfully, impossibly and devilishly handsome.
I didn't want to stare. I really didn't but my eyes refused to move.
