The following morning, Sophia woke before dawn. The excitement of her first day of lectures had made it difficult to sleep, and she was determined to make a good first impression.
After saying her morning prayers, she got ready and joined her roommates for breakfast at the university cafeteria.
"You look nervous," Amira teased with a smile.
"I am," Sophia admitted. "Everything is still so new."
Chioma laughed.
"Give it one week. You'll know every shortcut on campus."
The girls chatted happily as they made their way to the Faculty of Business Administration. The campus was alive with students rushing to lectures, greeting old friends, and searching for classrooms.
Sophia checked her timetable once again before entering the lecture theatre.
The room was already filling up.
She chose a seat near the middle, placed her notebook on the desk, and quietly looked around.
Just as the lecturer was preparing to begin, the door opened.
A tall young man hurried inside, slightly out of breath.
"I'm sorry for coming in late, sir," he said respectfully.
"There was heavy traffic."
The lecturer looked at him over his glasses.
"This is your first and last excuse."
"Yes, sir."
The young man looked around for an empty seat.
The only one available was beside Sophia.
"Excuse me," he said politely.
"May I?"
Sophia nodded with a smile.
"Of course."
"Thank you."
He sat down and immediately focused on the lecture.Perhaps it was also about meeting people who would shape your future in ways you never expected.
Neither Ethan nor Sophia realized that what had begun as a simple act of kindness was quietly becoming the foundation of a friendship that would one day be tested by love, sacrifice, forgiveness, and unwavering faith.
