Chapter 16 Powell didn’t bat an eye when Leander told him he would not be needed again that night, so Leander had no way of knowing what the man actually thought. The butler was a master at maintaining a blank countenance. Leander could only hope that Julien was correct in his assessment of the servants and of Leander’s supposed generosity toward them.
