Chapter Four
New Directions
Maddie took Cat up on her offer to let her stay at her townhouse and left for the city. Sam took it the hardest of all, blaming himself for her change of heart. He was sitting on the couch between Caitlin and Cat as they usually did. Both girls tried to comfort him, telling him it was not his fault, that Maddie just didn’t know what she wanted. That she was unstable at times. They also told him that he still had them and that they were not going anywhere. Their love made him feel better, but he still missed Maddie. As they sat together, the phone rang. Sam answered it.
“Hello,” he said.
The voice on the other end asked, “Is this Mr. Samuel Worth?”
“Speaking.”
“Mr. Worth, this is Vivian Johnson at the County Clerk’s office, I’m afraid I have some unwelcome
