The waitress didn't dare ignore him and turned around to ask the manager to come out.
“Good day, sir,” the manager greeted Vincent.
“I need a table for next Friday,” Vincent stated.
“I’m sorry, sir, but next Friday is already fully booked…”
Before the manager could finish, Vincent interrupted, “I don't want to cause trouble, but I really need that table. I’ll pay one million dollars.”
The manager was taken aback, “Sir, what did you say?”
“I said I’ll pay one million dollars. I need that table,” Vincent repeated.
“I’m sorry, but I…”
“Two million!” Vincent raised the offer.
The manager wiped the sweat from his forehead, “I can’t make this decision. I’ll need to ask my boss.”
“Five million!” Vincent said firmly.
The manager’s jaw dropped; he didn’t know what to say. He had never encountered someone willing to pay so much for just a reservatiom. Vincent’s offer was beyond extravagant.
Vincent frowned, “Is five million still not enough?”
This time, Vincent didn’t wait for the manager to speak. Instead, he pulled out his phone. "Stanley Field, buy Dream Land for me. I need it for an important date," Vincent firmly said, then hung up.
The manager across from him just stood there, his jaw still dropped. Vincent offering five million dollars for a single dinner was already enough to make headlines across M City.
But buying the entire restaurant? And having Stanley Field handle it? Who was this guy?
Soon, the restaurant owner came out to meet Vincent.
Cautiously, the owner asked, "Mr. Chesterton, do you have any special requirements for your meal?"
Vincent replied, "This dinner is to celebrate my fifth wedding anniversary with my wife. My only requirement is that it be as luxurious as possible."
The owner patted his chest confidently. "No problem, I’ll create the most luxurious dinner possible!"
"Good," Vincent nodded, then turned to Galahad. "Handle the details. Make sure it’s a night the entire city talks about."
Galahad bowed, "Yes, my lord. I’ll make the arrangements immediately."
Last night, when Emma asked Vincent about next Friday, he played the fool. How could he forget their anniversary? He pretended not to know, so he could give Emma a big surprise, one she would remember for the rest of her life.
Soon, news spreads that a mysterious tycoon had bought Dream Land to celebrate his wedding anniversary with his wife. The whole city was buzzing!
Meanwhile, Emma was busy at V&E Group. She still felt down, thinking about how Vincent seemed to forget their anniversary last night. ‘It’s going to be our fifth wedding anniversary, no less! Did Vincent really forget about it?’
She mocked herself, "Maybe I should try asking him another way."
"President, here are the documents you requested!" As Emma was lost in thought, her secretary walked in.
Emma snapped back to reality and nodded. "Put them on the desk."
The secretary placed the files down and suddenly said with a mysterious tone, "President, have you heard today’s big news?"
Emma, having spent the entire day in the office, was clueless about what happened.
She frowned and asked, "What’s the big news?"
Excitedly, the secretary replied, "President, you haven't heard about it?! A mysterious tycoon just bought the entire Dream Land restaurant to celebrate his wedding anniversary next week. The whole city is talking about it. I’m a bit jealous of the tycoon’s wife."
As she spoke, the secretary wore a look of longing. As an unmarried woman, she dreamed of meeting a man who would spend extravagantly for her.
‘Mysterious tycoon? Dream Land? Wedding anniversary?’ These words struck Emma like lightning, making her head buzz.
"President, are you listening?" The secretary asked after seeing Emma’s stunned expression.
Emma came back to her senses and waved her hand. "You can leave now." Her mind was in a whirl.
‘Could this mysterious tycoon really be Vincent? Did he not forget our anniversary?’ The thought consumed Emma. She wanted to rush home and ask Vincent what was going on.
‘Forget it. I'll focus on work now and ask him when I get home!’ She took a deep breath to calm herself before diving back into her work.
Meanwhile, another bombshell news story hit M City. The mysterious tycoon had made another move, spending fifty million dollars at an auction to buy the Eternal Heart Ring. The gossip around the city grew even louder with speculation about this enigmatic figure.
Some guessed that the tycoon was Stanley Field, M City's wealthiest man. But this was quickly dismissed; Field's wife had passed away, and he hadn't remarried.
The identity of this mysterious tycoon became a hot topic of conversation amongst all citizens.
That night, Vincent returned to their bedroom after a shower and found Emma lying on the bed, lost in thought.
"Honey, what's up?" Vincent asked, smiling as he approached.
Emma looked up and asked, "Vincent, where did you go today?"
"I just took Hope to her new preschool," Vincent replied.
Emma pressed on, "You didn’t go anywhere else?"
"Sweetheart, what are you really asking?"
Emma bit her lip, "Today, a mysterious tycoon bought out Dream Land and spent fifty million on the Eternal Heart Ring. Do you know anything about that?"
Vincent feigned ignorance, "No idea. I never follow that stuff."
Emma scrutinized Vincent’s every expression and caught a fleeting look of panic on his handsome face. Suddenly, her heart relaxed a bit. Vincent was terrible at lying to her, so she had confirmed what she already suspected: Vincent was the mysterious tycoon making headlines today. Who else would be so clumsy yet extravagant to buy out Dream Land?
Realizing this was Vincent’s way of surprising her, Emma decided not to push further. She calmly said, "Alright, dear. If you don't know, don't worry about it. Let's get some sleep."
