Chapter 49

Clement plummeted rapidly, despair filling his heart. Suddenly, he felt himself stop. Looking up, he saw Vincent holding onto him. "Vincent!" Clement's face was a mix of emotions. Years ago, he vehemently opposed Emma and Vincent's marriage. But little did he know that the vagabond he once looked down upon, who disappeared for five years, would one day return. Not only that, but he came back with unprecedented strength. Clement, once the esteemed head of the Joseph family, had become a mere shell of himself. The entire Joseph family was gone. Clement used to wish he could beat Vincent to death. But today, the person saving him was none other than Vincent. "Hold onto me!" Vincent yelled as he noticed that Clement was still in a daze. Clement snapped back to reality and grabbed onto Vincent tightly. "Vincent, I never expected you to be the one saving me," Clement said, his tone filled with emotion. "No time for chatter, I'll pull you up first!" Vincent’s muscles bulged as he hoisted Clement up. "Vincent!" "Dad!" Franklin and Emma hurried over. Emma approached Vincent, concern evident in her voice. "Vincent, are you okay?" Vincent smiled. "I'm fine." Emma breathed a sigh of relief after seeing that Vincent was unharmed. When Vincent rushed to save Clement earlier, she was genuinely shocked. "Dad, are you okay?" Franklin asked Clement anxiously. Clement's expression was complex. He sighed lightly. "Franklin, thank you. It's only now that I realize you're my true son. Norman is nothing but a beast. I've been blind for so long." Hearing this, Franklin felt a mix of emotions. Clement had once favored Norman over him, neglecting him and even driving his family out of the Joseph family home. It was impossible for him not to harbor resentment towards Clement. But seeing Clement in his current state, aged beyond his years, left Franklin feeling uneasy. "Hahaha, all this money is mine!" Meanwhile, Norman laughed excitedly as he held a large stack of colorful banknotes. "Vincent, quickly have Stanley Field load all this money onto the helicopter and take me away!" Norman turned to Vincent and shouted. Vincent sneered. "Do you really think you can leave now?" Norman's face changed. "Vincent, what do you mean?" At that moment, hundreds of fully armed soldiers rushed forward. "My lord, the knights are ready for action!" Galahad approached Vincent, his right fist clenched over his heart, performing a knightly salute. Vincent said calmly, "Execute the plan!" "Yes, my lord!" Galahad turned around, his gaze icy as he stared at Norman. "Anyone who dares to disrespect the King will be killed!" With those words, hundreds of soldiers aimed their guns at Norman. Norman's face turned ugly instantly as he glared at Vincent, roaring, "Vincent, you deceived me!" Vincent sneered. "Norman, you were just too foolish. If you apologize now and surrender, I might spare your life." Norman's face fell. "Vincent, in the end, I've lost to you." Facing hundreds of fully armed soldiers, Norman had no chance of fighting back. "Take him," Vincent ordered. "Yes!" Galahad nodded, then waved his hand, signaling several soldiers to move forward and capture Norman. "Just a moment!" Suddenly, Franklin called out. He looked up at Vincent. "I have something to say to him!" Vincent frowned. "Dad, what could you possibly have to say to someone like him?" Franklin shook his head. "You don't understand. He and I are still brothers. I want to try one last time to reason with him, to see if he can come to his senses." Franklin's determination left Vincent a bit taken aback, all he could do was nod in agreement. Franklin addressed Norman. "Norman, I have one last piece of advice for you. Give up now, or you'll meet a dead end." "I don't need your hypocritical salvation. If you want to save me, come over here. I have something to tell you. Do you dare come here?" Norman said disdainfully. "Fine, I'll come over as long as you surrender." Seeing Franklin approaching, Emma suddenly yelled, "Dad, don't go over there! Be careful, Norman might harm you!" Franklin smiled. "Don't worry, he's already trapped. What harm can he do to me?" With that, Franklin walked towards Norman. As Franklin approached, Norman sneered, "Franklin, I never expected you'd dare to come over!" Franklin looked at Norman and sighed lightly. "Norman, now that I'm here, what do you have to say to me?" "The last thing I want to say to you is..." Suddenly, Norman rushed towards Franklin as he pulled out a pistol from his waist. "Don't move, any of you, or I'll shoot him!" Norman aimed the gun at Franklin's head, shouting hysterically like a lunatic. Seeing this, everyone's expression changed instantly. No one expected Norman to be this insane! "Dad!" Emma screamed; she was almost in tears. Vincent looked at her and calmly reassured her, "Don't worry, I'll save him." Emma nodded. Right now, all her hopes were pinned on Vincent. Vincent turned his head to glare at Norman, his face completely expressionless. "Norman, release my father, and I might spare your life." "Hahaha!" Norman laughed. "Vincent, you want to save Franklin, right? Then let me go, and I'll let him go!" "Step aside!" Vincent waved his hand. In an instant, all the soldiers immediately cleared a path. "Load all this money into the helicopter!" Norman bellowed. Vincent nodded, and, immediately, someone started loading a billion dollars into the helicopter. With Franklin in tow, Norman headed towards the helicopter. "Norman, stop this madness. You're not getting away," Franklin said, his expression pained. He hadn't expected Norman to be so persistent with his crazy schemes. Norman growled, "Shut up, or I'll kill you!" Once aboard the helicopter, Norman aimed his gun at the pilot. "Take off now!" The helicopter's rotor blades spun quickly, then slowly lifted off. "Franklin, you were never my equal since childhood, and now, you're still below me. Just die!" Norman sneered, aiming the gun at Franklin, ready to pull the trigger. Bang! A gunshot rang out. Norman's expression froze suddenly. A bullet hole appeared in his chest and blood dripped out from it steadily.
