Emma felt like her breath had stopped.
Galahad took the bourbon from Emma's hand and smiled. "Excellent. He'll remember you, definitely." With that, Galahad held up the bottle of bourbon, casting a glance at everyone. "He just told me that this bourbon is the best gift he received tonight."
What? Everyone looked shocked at these words. In an instant, discussions erupted. "Bourbon? Instead of luxury cars and jewelry, he prefers this cheap whiskey?"
Seeing this, everyone regretted not buying more bottles of bourbon.
Emma felt pleasantly surprised. Vincent hadn't lied to her; the mysterious VIP did indeed appreciate the gift.
She couldn't help but glance at Galahad. A five-star general, the security personnel of the mysterious VIP, and Vincent's friend.
‘Could it be that Vincent is actually...’ An incredible idea filled Emma's mind.
At the same time, Una and Franklin wore expressions of disbelief. Una couldn't help but shout in excitement, while Franklin felt a bit embarrassed. Just a few seconds ago, Una was calling Vincent a fool, and now he had become her great son-in-law.
Vincent smiled but remained silent. Everything was going according to his expectations.
Soon, the banquet ended, and people began to disperse.
Vincent and his group left the banquet, leaving the members of the Joseph and Barton families still on the ground. Vincent paid them no mind as he departed. Emma, Una, and Franklin cast them a glance filled with mixed emotions before trailing after Vincent.
After everyone had left, Stanley Field emerged, impatiently ordering the members of the Joseph and Barton families to leave and then closed the castle gates.
After a while, the members of the Joseph family and the Barton family got up unsteadily.
"Dad, what should we do now?" Norman asked.
Clement glared at him. "Hurry up and go home! Are you planning to stay here?"
Then, they got into their car and left.
"You i***t, come home with me!" Warner rubbed his numb legs, glaring at Nathan. Nathan looked crestfallen as he followed Warner.
Seeing this, Miranda hurriedly followed them.
"Why are you still following me? Didn't I say it? I'm canceling the engagement!" Nathan furrowed his brow.
Miranda pleaded, "Nathan, please don't leave me!"
"Get lost!" Nathan pushed Miranda hard, causing her to fall to the ground, then he walked away without looking back.
“Nathan! Please don't leave me!" Seeing Nathan walk away, Miranda burst into tears.
"Don't cry, let's go home!" Hunter lamented.
Meanwhile, Emma and her family sat in the Hummer. For several times, she wanted to say something but hesitated.
Vincent smiled and said, "Emma, just say whatever you want to say!"
Emma took a deep breath and asked, "Vincent, are you the mysterious King that Mr. Field and Galahad mentioned?" She stared at Vincent intently.
Una and Franklin also looked at Vincent. The events of tonight had piqued their curiosity about his identity.
Facing Emma's curiosity, Vincent smiled and asked back, "Do you wish I were?"
Emma didn't know how to answer this question. ‘Do I wish he were King? If Vincent's identity is indeed significant, would he and I still be the same?’ This question echoed in her mind.
Emma lowered her head and said, "I don't know."
Hearing Emma's response, Vincent knew she wasn't ready to accept his identity yet. So he chuckled and said, "Then, I'm not King!"
Emma was stunned, unable to believe it. "How is that possible? With everything that happened tonight..."
Vincent chuckled. "Actually, I'm his friend. We met in the military."
Emma felt a mix of disappointment and relief upon hearing this. However, she remained resolute as she lifted her head. "Regardless of anything else, you are my husband and the father of our daughter," she declared firmly.
Vincent was deeply moved by her words. He wanted to confess, but he knew if he did, Emma might not be able to handle such a huge revelation all at once. From being a wanderer to suddenly becoming the mysterious King, wielding such immense power – it would be a massive shock to anyone!
Una, feeling disappointed after hearing this, couldn't help but say, "Vincent, why aren't you King? If you were, our family wouldn't be bullied like this."
Vincent glanced at Una, then at Emma, and said earnestly, "Though I'm not King, I promise I'll never let you be bullied again. I'll make sure you live the best life possible!"
Una rolled her eyes, unconvinced. ‘I thought Vincent was some noble figure, turns out he's not!’
Emma, however, smiled and nodded. "Yes, I believe in you!" After going through all this, she realized that Vincent had always held an important place in her heart.
Although Emma once resented Vincent for abandoning her, now that he's back and has not only helped cure their daughter but also made the Joseph family and the Barton family apologize to them, Emma feels content.
However, Una's brows furrowed at this moment. Since Vincent isn't King, Una no longer fears him. "Hmph, Emma, don't be deceived by Vincent's sweet talk." Una's demeanor turned assertive again as she glared at Emma fiercely.
Vincent ignored Una's remarks and continued, "Emma, I've found a great house. Let's go see it in a couple of days. If you like it, we can move out of the apartment."
"If you can't afford the house, I'll make Emma divorce you. I won't let my daughter marry someone who's just a bragger and a cheat!" Una stated coldly, her gaze fixed on Vincent.
