Chapter 4

DAMIAN LORENZ I couldn't believe how beautiful Lucia was, her beauty didn't fade one bit and the fact that I felt myself drawn to her surprised me. It took every ounce of self restraint and self control not to hold her, kiss her and reassure her that her triplets will be alright. As Lucia stood preparing to leave my presence after gaining my support, the atmosphere in the room suddenly changed. "What is the meaning of this?" Ivy's voice dripped with insincerity as she glared at Lucia. "Why is she here Damian? And why are you even entertaining her ludicrous story?" Indeed she had been eavesdropping. Lucia took a step back, startled by Ivy's sudden appearance and hostile demeanor. Ivy is my arranged mate and I soon realized that I didn't like this situation. Lucia had stolen two of Ivy's previous boyfriend before now, including me, so she had every right to be suspicious. My expression hardened, my voice low and commanding as I addressed her, "This is none of your concern, Ivy. Lucia has come seeking my help, and I have agreed to aid her. That is all you need to know." She scoffed, her eyes never leaving Lucia. "Oh, I can see why you are so eager to help her," she retorted sarcastically. "It's obvious she's trying to use her children as a ploy to get back with you. But we both know the truth, don't we, Damian? She betrayed you in the past, and she will do it again." I could see Lucia's face twisting with anger and hurt at Ivy's words. "Ivy, you have no idea what I've been through," Lucia said, her voice trembling with emotion. "My children have been kidn*pped, and I would do anything to save them. My past with Damian is just that – the past. I'm here because I have no other choice." Ivy sneered, her eyes cold and calculating. "Oh, please," she said dismissively. "You expect me to believe that you're just a helpless mother, desperate to save her children? It's all a ruse, a ploy to warm your way back into Damian's heart. But he's mine, and he always will be." I stepped forward, placing a hand on Ivy's shoulder, attempting to calm the tension. "Ivy, that's enough," I said firmly. "Lucia is not the enemy here, and I will not stand by and allow you belittle her situation." Ivy shrugged off my hand, her anger intensifying. "Not the enemy? She's always been the enemy, Damian. My enemy, ever since she came into our lives and stole you away from me. You promised to be mine, to honor our arranged bond, but instead, you chose her. And now, she comes back, and you just can't resist playing the hero, can you?" Lucia's eyes flashed with anger. "I didn't steal him from you," she shot back, her voice tinged with bitterness. "He chose to be with me because we had something real. Your arranged bond means nothing when there's no love or connection." Ivy's laughter was cold and hollow. "There you have it, she's finally speaking her true intentions." "Ivy, I'm sorry that you are insecure and possessive. What we had was real." Lucia quipped back. "Real? Please, Lucia. You were nothing more than a distraction, a mere plaything for him. But I am his true mate, and you can't change that, no matter how hard you try." My frustration grew evident as I tried to mediate between the two women who I obviously love. "Ivy, this is not the time or place for this argument," I said firmly. "I have agreed to help Lucia, and that is final." Ivy's eyes flashed with fury. "You would choose her over me?" She hissed, her voice trembling with anger and hurt. "After everything we've been through? After the commitment you made to me and our pack? you would throw it all away for her?" I clenched my jaw, my patience wearing thin. "This has nothing to do with throwing anything away," I said, my voice gentle but firm. "Lucia needs my help, and I will not turn my back on someone in need, regardless of our past." "Just listen to yourself Damian, I guess there is some weakness after all despite all the hard exterior." Ivy said through her clenched teeth. "And what is that supposed to mean Ivy?" I asked without even bothering to raise my voice. "You know damn well, what it's supposed to mean Damian." Ivy quipped back. "Ivy, I'm really sorry, but I won't stand here and let you insult the memory of my children." Lucia said, now visibly very angry and inching closer to Ivy. "Oh, you want some? I've been praying for this ever since you stole him away the first time." Ivy said, readying herself for an attack, just in case Lucia tries anything. The heated argument escalated, and the room filled with tension as Ivy and Lucia exchanged harsh words, both refusing to back down. The air crackled with animosity, and I found himself torn between my commitments and my desire to do what I believed was right. As the confrontation reached its peak, a sudden tremor shook the chamber, interrupting the clash of wills. The ground beneath us rumbled, and the air crackled with an unknown energy. A dark figure emerged from the shadows, its form shrouded in mystery and malevolence. "Ah ah, the drama of the supernatural world," the figure hissed, its voice chilling to the bone. "Such delicious chaos you all create." Alpha Iver said suddenly standing before us. Alpha Iver stepped forward, his sinister aura enveloping us. "Alpha Damian, I see Lucia has come running to you for help. Your debt will be demanded of you soon." He turned and studied the room. "And look what we have here. If it isn't the ever beautiful Ms. Ivy, how unfortunate that you'd choose Damian the loser. But you shall be mine again." He continued, a sinister grin spreading across his face and was gone in a flash. "What from the pit of hell was that about?" Ivy cussed, I turned to look at Jasper, my Beta. "That's what I was trying to tell you before the ladies came in." He said shrugging his shoulders. "What?" Ivy asked, alarmed. I smiled, an idea forming in my head. "So, apparently you are in bed with Iver the Mad. The lunatic who has threatened to destroy us." I said softly, putting her on the spot. "Come off it Damian, I don't know what you are talking about." She defended. "Well, he obviously knows you. So, I think you may have to go with us on this quest." I said with a smile and winked at Ivy whose cheeks turned red. "I...I... Wh...what? Why would I do that?" "You tell me." I was still speaking when a guard ushered in a newcomer. He was a strikingly handsome man with an air of mystery about him. His dark eyes darted around the room, and his presence seemed to exude both confidence and intrigue. "I apologize for the intrusion, Alpha Damian, my name is Allen." He said, bowing respectfully. "But I bring urgent news regarding the k********g of your ex-girlfriend's triplets." I kept quiet, looking at him and trying to understand him. "This my ex-girlfriend you speak of, do you know her name." "My sources say her name is Lucia." He said confidently. "Do you know her if you see her?" I asked, suspicious that maybe he was conniving with Lucia. "No." Lucia's heart skipped a beat as she turned her attention to the newcomer. "You have information about my children?" She asked, her voice filled with both hope and trepidation. Allen nodded, his gaze unwavering. "Yes, I do," he replied. "I've been following the activities of the kidnappers, and I believe I know their next move. But before I reveal anything, I need your assurance that I will be well-rewarded for my services." My eyebrows furrowed in suspicion. "What guarantee do we have that your information is legitimate?" I demanded. "And what makes you think you deserve a reward before proving your worth?" Allen smirked confidently, seemingly undeterred by my skepticism. "My information is valuable, and I can assure you that it's accurate," he said smoothly. "As for the reward, consider it an investment in securing the safe return of Lucia's children." "An investment, huh?" I said, looking at him suspiciously. Lucia could feel the tension in the room escalate, and she intervened, eager to find any leads on her children's whereabouts. "Please, Alpha Damian, let's hear him out," she urged. "We need all the help we can get, and if he has valuable information, it might be worth considering." I grunted in reluctant agreement, still eyeing Allen with suspicion. "Fine, speak," I said curtly. "But make it quick, and remember that any deception will have severe consequences."
