Clara Quin gave six years of her life to a man who never loved her. She knew she was just a replacement for her stepsister, who was his true love, but despite that, she stayed by billionaire Damain Freeman’s side, hoping he would come to love her someday. With a twist of fate, just as Clara thought she had lost everything, an incident revealed her true heritage as a long-lost heiress of the most powerful empire in the country. Five years later, Clara rose among the ranks, raising her beautiful daughter to follow in her steps. What happens when she crosses paths with Damian once again, but this time he’s the one begging? Chapter 1
What are you possibly thinking of right now?" Marco asked but I paid him no attention as I sat in my dimly lit living room, my eyes fixed on a family photo hanging on the wall. My heart pounded loudly in my chest, and I couldn't escape the feeling that my past was slowly catching up to me. The photo showed me with a radiant smile, flanked by my three beautiful children, my triplets: Michael, Sarah, and Daniel. But somehow, they were missing, I couldn't tell if they had been kidn*pped or something. It was just that they were not at school or in any of their friends house. "I don't know Marco, I'm just trying to make sense of all of this." I said with my eyes closed, as memories of my past began to resurface. "You know you really can't blame me for any of this?" "Are you high on cheap drugs or something? Do I need to remind you Marco that you dragged me into this?" I said through clenched teeth. "But if you liked it then, you can't say you regret now." He said mockingly and I couldn't stand his guts. Just then my phone rang. I answered hesitantly, and a distorted voice on the other end said, "Listen carefully, Lucia. We have your precious triplets. If you want to see them alive again, follow our instructions precisely." Fear clenched at my heart, and I stammered, "Wh-what do you want from me?" The voice continued, "You know what we want. It's time for you to pay for what you did. Remember that robbery that went wrong? The one you took the fall for? We want you to help us pull off a heist, and if you don't cooperate, well, you can imagine what will happen to your children." Tears welled up in my eyes as I pleaded, "Please, I've paid for my mistakes. Let my children go." The voice on the phone was cold and relentless, "No second chances Lucia. You have 48 hours to gather the information we need. Don't try to involve the police, or your children will suffer the consequences. This is your mess, and you're going to clean it up." The line went dead. "Marco, you have to help me?" I turned to him desperately but he didn't seem bothered one bit. "How can you be so calm at a time like this Marco?" "How can I not?" He said, shrugging his shoulders. "You are f*****g unbelievably!" I yelled at him angrily. "The f*****g kidnapers wants to punish me for your mess that I took the fall for. You f*****g promised to take care of my children, where's your honor?" I said through my tears, crying and pleading. Marco was silent and studied me. "I might be a criminal Lucia, but there are rules. I simply cannot get involved." "Marco please, my children are innocent, they shouldn't have to pay for my mistakes." I pleaded, now kneeling before him. Marco looked down on me and had compassion in his eyes. "Okay Lucia, I'll tell you what I know, but I won't get involved." "That's fair enough." "The kidnappers are from the Bloodmoon pack led by Iver Jensen, a ruthless mafia werewolf." My heart skipped a beat when he mentioned Alpha Iver. "Where can I find them?" "Lucia--" "Just tell me Marco." I insisted, and he gave me the address and left. ********** I found myself standing in front of the museum, my heart pounding in my ears. I wore a concealed earpiece through which Alpha Iver communicated with me, on the night of the heist.. "Alright Lucia," the voice in my ear said. "You know what to do. Get inside, disable the security systems, and make your way to the artifact. Remember, we're watching your every move." I slipped into the museum, my hands trembling with fear and regret. I had never imagined that my life would come to this as I disabled the security systems. "I know you are probably thinking and wondering how you ended up in this dark path. But I need to remind you that thinking, will get your children killed and you back in prison." The voice said through the earpiece. "I'll try not to think then, for all our sakes." I whispered. After a careful search, I reached the room where the artifact was kept, and as I laid my eyes on it, I felt a strange aura emanating from the ancient object. It was beautiful, but I knew its power came with a hefty price. "Just take it and get out," the voice in my ear instructed. "Don't even think about backing out now." He instructed. But as I reached for the artifact, I hesitated. "What are you waiting for? Take the damn thing!" Alpha Ivers' voice turned into a menacing growl. My mind raced, torn between my love for my children and the moral dilemma of unleashing such power. And then, a voice from behind me startled me to my core. "Don't do it, Lucia. It's a trap." I turned around to see Marco standing there, a haunted look in his eyes. "They never intended to let your children go," he said. "How are you here?" I asked softly. "I realize I owe, so listen and do as I say. They had a run in many years ago with Alpha Damian of the Thunderstrike pack, a ruthless and powerful Alpha and ever since that encounter, they decided to delve into the supernatural." He took a step closer. "Wait, why are saying this now, how do you know all this you are saying?" I whispered. "Listen to me and stop being stubborn Lucia. They'll use the artifact to control not just you but everyone werewolf in the world. He seeks to create a pack of Alphas, a world where every Alpha will be under his control. It's not worth it Lucia." I felt a surge of conflicting emotions. Alpha Iver had betrayed me, and now I had to make a choice – Before I could decide, chaos erupted. The museum's alarms blared, and the room became filled with armed security personnel. Alpha Iver had set me up, and they were nowhere to be found. "Lucia, run!" Marco shouted. But I couldn't move. Fear, regret, and pain consumed me as the security personnel closed in. My past and present collided, and I knew that whatever I chose, my life would never be the same. "You over there, freeze!" The security yelled. "Ugrh" I heard and swiftly turned Just in time to see a knife poking through where Marco's heart had been and a force flung me across the room. Through my hazy eyes, I saw Alpha Iver reach for the artifact. Its power surged through him, and everything around me went black. When I opened my eyes again, I found myself in an unfamiliar place, surrounded by darkness. A voice echoed in my mind, chilling me to the bone. "Welcome to your new reality, Lucia. You have finally killed your children by your actions and inactions." And reality came rushing back to me. Marco was dead, he was someone I trusted. I was a lone wolf young, naive, and desperate for a way out of poverty and had fallen in love with Marco, a beta. He was charismatic but also a dangerous werewolf involved in organized crime. At first, I had been blinded by his charm, but as time passed, I saw his true colors. Thinking about him made me angry, especially knowing that my children's lives still hung in the balance, I braced myself to confront the unimaginable, to face my darkest fears, and to make choices that would forever alter the course of my life – and the fate of my world.
