Xander's POV
I couldn't believe Zane had done that. I knew he was excited to meet our mate but it was like he forgot he was an alpha and had to show he had self control. He barged right into the diner in the middle of our date and blurted out the last thing she needed to know right then. We were supposed to be getting to know he first then tell her what we were and what she was to us. Now I had to worry that he had ruined everything before we had even gotten a chance to know her. I really hope she didn't end up rejecting us due to Zane's impatience. At first I thought she was a human so her knowing about rejecting us wasn't an issue at the time but as the morning had gone by I noticed that her smell had started to change. The vanilla and coconut was still there but it had a spicy sell to it now. I didn't understand why it would be changing now, I put that thought in the back of my min to think of later. I had to focus on my mate right now who was laying on the floor with her head in my lap.
When Zane had blurted out that we would be sharing her, I watched as her face paled and then her eyes rolled in the back of her head as she started to slump over in her chair. Both Zane and I jumped up to catch her at the same time so she wouldn't hit the floor. There were gasps from the dinner workers as I was able to catch Jocelyn before she could hit the ground. I laid her down and brushed her hair out of her face. I could hear that her heart and her breathing were normal with my wolf hearing. The shock of hearing Zane's words must have been too much for her to handle and caused her to faint. I looked up to our waitress that had come over to see if she could help in any way and asked if she could bring us a glass of water. Once she walked away I lit into my brother.
" Was that really necessary?! We just found her and you thought now was a good time to lay all that on her?" I had a hard time holding onto my anger. Zane had the decency to look down embarrassed and ashamed of his behavior.
" I'm sorry I know I shouldn't have done it but when caught her scent as I was walking down the road my wolf took over and next thing I know I was standing here next to the table. My excitement got the best of me. I'll do whatever it takes to fix things."
I shook my head and looked at him again before looking back down at Jocelyn's face. The waitress had brought a glass of water as well as a damp cloth that I proceeded to wipe across Jocelyn's forehead and the back of he neck the best I could. I noticed her coloring was coming back to normal and that her eye lashes were starting to flutter. I didn't want to hurt my brother's feelings but I felt hat him being here at the moment would do more damage to the already fragile situation.
" I think you should go for now. She's coming around and I don't want her to see the two of us here and faint again.I think she just needs some time to process what we've already told her." I said quietly so only Zane could hear.
" Okay, but I'm not giving up. I've waited too long to find her and I'm not letting her go without a fight." He said before raising to his feet. He looked once more at Jocelyn in my arms before turning and leaving. I watched him as he went across the parking lot towards the woods. With my wolf sight I saw him shift into his black wolf and run off into the woods.
I shook my head once more with a deep sigh as Jocelyn moved in my arms. Looking down I was that her eye's were now open and coming into focus.
"What happened?" she asked as she went to sit up.
" Take your time" I said trying to push her back down but she told me she was okay.
" I think we should pay for our breakfast and head back to your house so that we cane talk." I told her, she nodded her head in agreement.
I knew there was a going to be a lot of explaining to do in order to fix the mess we found ourselves in. I just hope I could find the right words to make her want to stay and get to know us better.
