“I’m going to attend a meeting with the elders, but I won’t spend much time there,” I said to Karen after we both caught our breath. “Looks like they are planning something, and I need to address them before they do something we’ll all regret.”
“I don’t trust those elders one bit,” she whispered. “They usually seem all sweet, but guess what? They’re cunning people,” she said with an annoyed look.
I chuckled lightly. “They are. More reason why we should be extremely careful so they won’t have a thing on us.”
“Okay then.”
“I need to go take a bath. Could you please call the maids for me when you step out?” she asked in a low voice.
“Okay, I will,” I said as I stood, giving her a peck on her cheek and then on her lips.
She smiled back in acknowledgement.
