A girl can dream right?
I feel it, that flutter in my stomach. Every time I think about Cameron, I can’t help the flutter or the humming I feel between my legs. I look in the mirror as I get ready for work, and I don’t see anything special about the girl looking back at me.
My name is Julie, and while I always do my best to keep a smile on my face, I hide the fact that I feel lonely and lesser than.
“Why does my hair have to be such a mess! Ugh”
Deciding to just throw the whole curly frizzy mess into a bun and give up on the whole experience that is my appearance, I search for my keys so I can leave and hopefully not be late for work.
Every day is the same, I wake up, go to work, go home, and repeat. The only thing that interrupts the boredom that is my routine are my delusional daydreams I have of Cameron. Cameron, a man totally out of my league and someone who would never waste his time with a chunky no one like me.
I pull up to my work and my heart starts to race slightly, I know that I am going to be seeing him soon, the best part of my day. After parking I walk towards the door and It opens abruptly before I touch the handle, making me jump a little bit;
“Ah”, I yelp embarrassingly.
“Julie, I ‘m sorry, I was trying to open the door for you”. Cameron stated.
“Oh my gosh, please don’t worry Cameron, I should have been paying attention”.
I am blushing like crazy, totally embarrassed.
He flashed me a smile, and I try not to stare at how handsome his face is, from his green eyes and dimples that appear. I don’t even hear what he is saying while I ogle him.
“What was that?”
“Oh, I was asking how you are doing this morning?” he is looking at me so sincerely I wonder, is he really interested in how I am doing?
“I am doing ok, same old same old. My life isnt exciting in the least bit”.
Cameron looks at me for a moment leans in slightly and says “ I’m sure that’s not true, I bet there is a lot going on in that pretty head of yours.”
“I gotta go Julie, I hope you have a great day.” Cameron walks away in a rush.
I stand there a little stunned, taking my eyes off Cameron I see the clock on the wall “oh shoot!” I rush deeper into the building and over to my desk where I put all my stuff down and quickly turn on my computer.
I work in a government building, processing paperwork and handling the occasional phone call. The beginning of the day and the end are the highlights, trying to catch a glimpse of Cameron. Cameron is a police officer who works in the building and there is just something about a man in uniform that makes me melt.
I am sure a man who looks like him has no problem with women, and someone who looks like me is nowhere near his radar, but a girl can dream right?
