Chapter 13: Secrets

Isabella's POV

The sun shining in our room woke me. The babies didn't sleep well last night, but that's not what's got my mind wondering. I stretch my arms out to find nothing but a cold spot on the other side of the bed. I look and Owen is no where to be seen. I go to our bathroom and do my stuff. After I'm done I set out to find my mate and ask him about what happened yesterday, and I intend to get my answers.

I finally find Owen's scent, and to my surprise he wasn't in his office but he was in the twin's room. I open the door and peak my head in and he is sitting in the glider Viki bought us. "Owen, we need to talk so will you please put Amanda back in her crib since she's sleeping?" I said hoping he would get the hint.

"Yes honey, meet you in the office?" he replied.

"Of course." I said. I closed the door and walk three doors down from their room to the office that the Luna and Alpha use together.

Soon after I arrive I decide to do a little snooping through Owen's desk. I shuffle through some of the pack paperwork and spot something that I haven't seen before so I pick it up. It's a folded piece of paper. The outside of it says Alpha Owen. I open it up and panic sets in because someone not only wants me but also wants Allen.

"What is it?" Owen asks when he bursts through the door and sees me on the floor, my panic clearly on my face.

"What the hell is this Owen?" I yell at him as he picks me up from the ground.

"What love?" he asks as sweetly as he can. He rubs circles on my back in a soothing way.

I pushed him away as I said "Why are you keeping secrets from me? We are supposed to be a team and work through problems together!"

"I was doing it to keep you and our pups safe and to make sure that you weren't stressed out. I was truly going to tell you this morning I just didn't know that you would find the notes before I had a chance to tell you." he explains.

"Wait just a second what do you mean notes, plural?" I ask the panic and anxiety rising again. This isn't what I wanted to happen today.

"Did you see both of them?" asked Owen as we sat down.

"No, I just saw the one." I stated as I stuck my hand out for the other note.

"Here's the first one, the one you read was left at the northern border that's why I was needed there yesterday." he said.

I read the first one and my heart sank. "The name of this 'Alpha' sounds familiar. I'll need to do some digging and then I may figure out why this guy wants me." I told him once I calmed down a bit.

"Mom can you please come up to mine and Owen's office? It's really important." I asked via mind-link.

"Sure honey, I'm on my way." she replied.

"Oh and mom, bring dad. you may need him." I told her and I know that she might be able to tell that this was more important than she first thought.

"Okay baby, we will be right there." she said and once she did I cut off the mind-link.

"My parents are on there way. they should be here in a few minutes." I informed Owen so he knew what was going on.

"Okay." he said as he straightened up his desk from the mess I made on it.

When the door opened I jumped just slightly. I knew who it was by their scents but I'm just a little on edge.

"Owen, Isabella, what can we do for you guys? Needing us to baby sit already?" my dad asked in a joking manor until Owen and I both sent him a glare that said this wasn't the time for jokes. he cleared his throat and went into Beta mode even though he is no longer the Beta.

"Mom I have a few questions about your old pack. Do you think you can answer them for me?" I asked in a sweet tone because I know she doesn't like talking about this with me or anybody else for that matter.

"Sure honey what do you need to know?" she said as my dad rubbed circles on his back.

"Well for starters what was your Alphas last name?" Owen asked in a calm voice.

This struck a nerve in my mom and my dad growled unknowingly. "It's okay mom. nothings going to happen to you, but its very important that we know." I told her.

She shot her head up when I said this and asked "What's going on Isabella Dawn and don't you dare lie to me? You are my pup and I will take a silver bullet in the chest for you remember that always"

I handed her the first note and she gasped. she handed it to my dad who immediately jumped up and started shaking.

"Mom do you guys know who this is?" I asked.

"This man came up to us when you were about 4 maybe 5. He said that when you come of age to be mated with he would take you away. Your father and him fought in the woods far from the pack house where you and Maliki were playing with Owen." I was feeling very nervous until my mom said that we were playing with my mate. He grabbed my hand and held it while my mom continued.

"During the battle your father got clawed down his back and I blacked out from the pain. Neither of you knew it but your father and I suffered from a miscarriage the day before." She said as a stray tear fell down her face. "I don't know what happened after I blacked out. all your father would tell me was that it was taken care of." she looked to my dad with a glare because she didn't know that he was still alive.

"I promise you Chrystal, I wounded him so badly he should have died that day. I honestly never knew that he was still alive." my dad said as he made a careful step towards my mother. "After you blacked out my wolf, Michael took over. He tore his stomach open pretty bad so I took control back and picked you up and took you straight to the pack hospital." my dad finished the story, but the one thing I didn't get was why he wanted not just me but my newborn pup too.

I handed the second note to my mom and she started shaking with tears running down her face in a way that I have never seen before and frankly it scared the hell out of me and Owen both. My mom stormed out of the room with my dad hot on her tail. The next thing we heard being shouted through the house came from Maliki.

"ROUGES! ALL WOMEN AND CHILDREN TO THE SAFE ROOMS NOW!" and with that I ran as fast as I could to my children grabbed both of them and headed out to get Viki and get to our safe room here in the house.

When we got to the safe room Owen locked us in after promising me he would come back to me and our pups.
