Chapter 20Henry knew better than to pace. He’d spent years hiding in plain sight, fitting in where he did not belong, making his enemies comfortable in his presence. It hadn’t taken long for that to turn into an instinct, deceit and deception becoming second nature. Henry’d perfected his talent for artifice. He remembered how to employ it well. Confidence was key, of course. If he looked like someone trying to hide, everyone would know he was trying to hide. Fidgeting threw suspicion his way as well—no picking at his clothes or rumpling his hair or fiddling with his fingers or biting his lips, cheek, tongue. Don’t make eye contact with anyone not his intended target while not actively avoiding it, either; that’d been the hardest to learn. Be likable but forgettable. Know what to say when
