Dinner went along without problems and their evening lasted with an easy conversation. After dinner, he got ready to leave. They said their goodbyes to their guest and Tristan said he would see Aurora the next day. As he left, Aurora went to get her suitcases in the car. She hurriedly went to her car and got all she needed. Her mom had said good night to her and kissed her hesitantly on the cheek. This gesture warmed Aurora’s heart. Her mom was making an effort and it was good enough for her.
As Aurora finished bringing all she wanted into her room, she slipped into the bathroom and took a relaxing bath. She thought back on her bittersweet day. She pondered about how the next day would be when she would see all those old faces. Nostalgia would be a big focus in this get-together. She didn’t know if it was good or not.
As Tristan drove off into the night his thoughts came back to Aurora. He didn’t know what his reason was for ditching her ten years ago on that day. He thought it was because he was scared. She was so headstrong. He was scared that she would hurt him so badly and yet he realizes he turned out to do that very fear to her. It had always bothered him because, after a short time, he realized that it was the biggest mistake of his adolescent life. When he wanted to fix it, it was too late. Aurora left the town without a goodbye to anyone or signs of where she was going. It was only after a while he decided to leave this heartbreaking town himself. He moved to Philly and became a doctor. He knew what he wanted in his life and nothing would stop him.
Time passed and he received a message from an old friend that Aurora had moved to Miami. There were rumors also that she was engaged to a man she fell in love with but they quickly died out. His heart quivered as he heard of this news and he wanted to go see her for himself yet he couldn’t. What if she was actually getting married or just dating a guy? He didn’t want to go there, seek her out, and then lose his chances when a man told him he was with her. Tristan groaned. He had already vowed to himself he wouldn’t go down this road anymore.
He knew it was dangerous to risk his old yet renewed love for her. Truthfully there had never been a woman like her. She was smart, beautiful, witty, and humorous. All the rest of them were whiny, brainless, and money-hungry. Even his current fling was the same. Her constant ranting was driving him insane and he didn’t know why he was putting himself through it.
He wanted to be with Aurora. He remembered how she used to smile. Those big eyes of hers brightened with her whole face. He felt horrible that he took her ability to smile away from her. As he spent those couple hours with her, her smiles were very scarce. While Aurora was here he planned to spend that time with her. He intended to win her back but he had to take it slow. She was his muse to work harder but he knew the Aurora he knew before was different from now. Now she was a stranger to him. He groaned unhappily as he thought of her yet again. He knew he wasn’t going to get any sleep at all tonight.
