The next morning,Alison arrived at the office early,her mind still reeling from the events of the previous night.She sat at her desk,staring at her computer screen,her thoughts a million miles away.She knew she needed to focus on her work,but the marriage proposal and the power struggles within the Harrison family kept distracting her.

"Hey,Alison,you look like you've seen a ghost,"Susan said,walking over with a concerned expression."What's going on?"

Alison forced a smile."Just a long night,"she replied,trying to sound casual.

"Did something happen at the dinner?"Susan asked,her curiosity piqued.

Alison hesitated,then decided to confide in her friend."It's complicated,"she said quietly."I met Alexander Harrison,and he...he proposed marriage."

Susan's eyes widened in shock."Marriage?As in,like,getting married?"

Alison nodded,feeling a wave of frustration."It's a family arrangement.His father wants it,and his mother seems to think I'm the right person for it."

Susan's expression softened."Wow,that's a lot to take in.What are you going to do?"

Alison sighed."I don't know.I need more time to think,to understand what I'm getting into."

Susan nodded sympathetically."I get it.This is a huge decision,and you need to make sure it's the right one for you."

"Thanks,Susan,"Alison said,feeling a wave of gratitude."I just...I need to figure out what's best for me."

Susan smiled and patted her on the shoulder."You'll figure it out,Alison.You always do."
