As the morning wore on,Alison became increasingly absorbed in her research. She had uncovered a web of business dealings and family connections that seemed to stretch across the globe. The Harrison family was involved in everything from finance to real estate to luxury goods, and their influence was vast.Alison knew that if she was going to navigate this world, she needed to understand it inside and out. Her concentration was broken by a knock on the door. She looked up to see Jack standing in the doorway,a stern expression on his face. "Miss Moore,I need to see you in my office,"he said, his tone leaving no room for argument. Alison felt a wave of unease. She had a feeling that this meeting was going to be about more than just work. Alison felt a knot form in her stomach as she followed Jack to his office. The familiar walk down the hallway felt different today, charged with an unspoken tension.Jack's office was as pristine as ever, the scent of expensive leather and polished wood filling the air.He gestured for her to sit,his expression unreadable. "Close the door,Miss Moore,"Jack said, his voice carrying an unusual seriousness. Alison did as instructed, her mind racing with possibilities. She took a seat across from him,her hands clasped tightly in her lap. "Jack, what's going on?"she asked, trying to keep her voice steady. Jack leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers."Alison,I need to be honest with you,"he began, his tone measured."I know about the dinner last night and the...proposal." Alison's heart skipped a beat."How did you—" "I have my sources,"Jack interrupted,a faint smile playing on his lips."Look,I won't sugarcoat it.The Harrisons are one of the most powerful families in New York, and their interest in you is significant." Alison felt a mix of relief and apprehension. She had been dreading the idea of keeping the proposal a secret from her boss, but she also knew that Jack's interest in her career was often tied to his own ambitions. "Jack,I need to figure this out on my own,"she said quietly, her eyes meeting his."I can't make a decision like this without understanding all the angles." Jack nodded, his expression softening."I understand,Alison. But I also need you to understand something:this could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you.The Harrisons have the power to elevate your career in ways you can't even imagine." Alison felt a pang of doubt. She had always prided herself on her independence, but the allure of what the Harrisons could offer was undeniable. "But at what cost?"she murmured, more to herself than to Jack. Jack leaned forward, his eyes intense."In this business,Alison, you have to be willing to make sacrifices.Sometimes, those sacrifices lead to greater rewards." Alison looked away, her mind filled with conflicting thoughts. She knew Jack was right, but she also knew that she couldn't let herself be swept up in a world she didn't fully understand. "Give me some time,Jack,"she said finally, her voice firm."I need to think." Jack nodded, his expression resigned."Take all the time you need,Alison. But remember, opportunities like this don't come around often." With that,he dismissed her with a wave of his hand.Alison stood, her legs feeling slightly unsteady as she made her way back to her desk. She knew that Jack's words carried weight, but she also knew that she had to make this decision on her own terms.
