“Thanks for coming over,” Lizzy said as Jenny walked into the house. She rang the doorbell, something Jenny had never done before, and it made Lizzy realize how bad things were.
“I’m glad you invited me,” Jenny said honestly. She’d missed Lizzy. More than she wanted to admit. And she was thrilled when Lizzy sent the text inviting her over for lunch. In truth, Jenny jumped up and down and screamed when she got the text, but she wasn’t going to tell Lizzy that.
“Do you want to sit? Or have a drink?”
“I think vodka might be in order if you’re going to treat me like this all lunch,” Jenny teased. “Why don’t we just get it over with?”
