Aaron pulled out of the driveway and turned toward Lake Ontario. He didn’t know where he wanted to go, but he knew he needed to get away. How could she possibly think he was cheating on her? He loved Lizzy more than anything.
Hurt and confused Aaron drove around for a while. Eventually he turned toward his buddy Steven Harris’s house. Steven and Aaron worked together and had been friends since they started at On Pointe Accountants, eight years earlier.
Steven opened the door and didn’t hide his amusement that Aaron was on his doorstep. He’d been telling Aaron for years that Lizzy would eventually get sick of him and throw him out. Aaron always told him he was nuts. He wasn’t so sure at that moment.
