Chapter 1
Brooklyn POV
I lay down on my bed as I felt the pain course through my body yet again.
It was a familiar pain, but I had yet to get used to it every time it happened.
My siblings and cousins had told me to leave him, but I couldn't. I loved him and didn't want to lose what we had created.
I had yet to tell my parents about the blessing, but if Ryan kept hurting me like this, then there wouldn't be anything to tell them or him...he didn't know either.
Jordan, Levi, and Zachary had already threatened him, but it seemed that he knew they wouldn't do anything. Because if they did, it would hurt me in the process, and they would never willingly hurt me.
I heard my door open, so I opened my eyes to see my older sister walk in with a heating pad.
The thing is, when Ryan was with someone else, he didn't last very long, five minutes at best, sometimes less than that.
"Give me the word and I'll teleport him to the Sahara Desert right this instant." She smiled, sitting beside me. She plugged in the heating pad and placed it over my stomach that had a fairly good baby bump to it.
"He's going to kill his unborn son if he keeps this up." "Bailey whispered, rubbing my side. I gave her a sad smile.
"He doesn't even know..." I told her in return and took in a shaky breath.
I was twenty-four, but due to Ryan sleeping around on me with the human girls, I've had to move in with Bailey and her mate, Evan. They had a one-year-old son named Tyler.
She gave me a look that made me shiver lightly. "Reject him, Brooke. The Goddess will understand why you had to do it," Bailey urged.
A sigh of relief filled me when the pain started to dim. I opened my teary eyes and looked back at her. "I don't know if I can... I'm not like you guys. You all got powers; I didn't. People think of me as the weak sibling. And thanks to Ryan I am becoming that way."
She scoffed and then stood up. "I'd like them to say that with me around."
I clutched the pillow beneath my head; he had never been this active before when he was with another person.
My wolf was whimpering in my head, and because our mate was always disregarding our bond, he had involuntarily made her weaker. Zena's fur didn't shine the way it was supposed to, and she was terribly skinny. My poor wolf was losing her fur in large patches, and all I wanted to do was help her get stronger.
I couldn't shift often, because if I did, it felt like it was my first time shifting all over again. It hurt like a b***h and took forever.
I love and hate him at the same time.
"I'm calling our dad!" Bailey said and left the room quickly. I wanted to tell her not to, but the pain was too much to bear. I put my face in the pillow and let out a scream.
I lay there clutching my abdomen for what felt like ages until I felt a hand on my head. I opened my eyes again to see one of my dads; his warm brown eyes seemed so full of worry.
I began crying again when I saw the frown lines on his face. I didn't want him to worry about me; I never wanted any of my parents to worry about me.
He gave me a small smile instead when I started crying and carefully pulled me into his embrace. "Your husband is an i***t, you know that?" I nodded my head into his chest.
Mom warned me about his family. He is from the Crystal Pack and is one of Quentin Dale's cousins. But Ryan was always different around me and didn't seem like the type to stray.
He proved me very wrong after we had gotten married. It only took him 3 years to do it, but by then, he had stolen my heart. "Please don't tell Mom!" He sucked in a hard and deep breath while he rubbed my back.
I could feel him move to look down at me, and then he made a disgruntled noise. "She already knows, baby girl. She had a vision last year of him with another woman. We weren't sure if it was already going on or if it was a future event." He sighed. "If it was in the future, we would have told you, but we didn't know."
He kissed my head. The less we saw of you, the more we knew something had to be going on. And then you quit your job at the school and sold your home and moved in with Bailey. He pulled away from the hug and then cupped my cheeks. "Why didn't you tell us?"
"Because as stupid as it sounds, I still love him." He wiped my tears away with the pads of his thumbs. "And I didn't want him to miss out on being a dad. " I mumbled the last part.
He chuckled. "Yeah, we knew about that too. We thought you smelled different when we saw you a few weeks ago." He gave me another smile; his face still looked like the perfect older twenty-year-old man, just with gray going through his brown hair.
My brothers don't look like him the way that I do. I got my dad's features and his eyes, just like Bailey got all of Daddy Noah's. But poor Levi looked and acted just like our mother. If he weren't an Alpha, some would think he was a Luna with his dramatic self.
"I don't know how to raise him alone. If Ryan doesn't stop, I know I have to leave him." My father reached into his back pocket and pulled out a thick envelope, then handed it to me.
"I had a favor with someone at the lawyers' office your mom, Noah, and I went through. All you have to do is sign it, but do it only if you are sure. Once you do, hand it to one of your siblings or cousins or even one of your uncles, and we will hand it to him personally."
I opened the envelope and then read the documents inside.
He had prepared divorce papers for me; I felt my eyes brimming yet again, but I pushed them back. "Thank you, Daddy!" I gave him another hug before he had to leave.
I set my hand on my belly and pondered over my options:
One—Should I sign the papers now and not wait for him to break me down little by little like he has been doing?
Two—or should I wait and pray that he finally sees what he is doing to me mentally and physically?
Three—Also, should I tell him about our baby? Would that make him stop cheating on me?
Option one sounded a lot better than two and three.
I grabbed my purse and dug in it to locate a pen. Upon finding one, I began signing all of the places I was meant to sign.
I read some of the things Ryan was to give me; I didn't want anything. I had enough money saved up.
But my parents have it to where he has to give me half of his assets, and if he doesn't, they have proof of his affairs on video from one of the girls he has been with a couple times.
I wasn't sure if I was grossed out or proud of my parents for looking out for me with this kind of proof.
When I was finished, I placed the pen back in my purse and the documents back in the envelope, then put that in my purse as well.
I took something that my OBGYN gave me that was safe to take for pain after I told her what my husband was doing when she asked me if the father was going to be at the ultrasound the first time I went in.
I could tell she was shocked but was very sympathetic about the situation. I'm sure she has seen a lot of these cases before, and she and the nurses don't ask when I come in anymore.
I got up and went into the bathroom to take a nice hot bath to help relax my sore muscles.
I felt Zena perk up once I had everything set up and was about to get in. "Mate is here!" She quipped.
"What?" He never comes here. He has his own apartment he chooses to stay in. My sister and brother-in-law refuse to let him enter the house unless I ask them to let him in.
I knew they would make him leave, so I got into the bath without a care in the world after locking the bathroom door, of course.
My husband was smart about it when he cheated on me; he would go to the bars in the human towns and pick up girls there. He was also into men, so he may have even picked up a few men too.
I didn't judge when he and I first got together; we would go out and would comment on other men about how cute they were. I even commented on a couple really beautiful women, but he never said anything about them then. I think I set myself up back then.
I wasn't sure, though, who he slept with; I refused to ask about his affairs after he got rough with me for asking too many questions.
He left marks all over my neck that I had to cover with makeup. He said he wanted a submissive wife, one that didn't talk back or ask questions about what they did or who they'd been with.
I wasn't raised that way. I was an Alpha's daughter; I was headstrong just like my siblings. Powers or no powers, I won't let a man treat me roughly like that again.
But doing nothing now is breaking my spirit every day more and more. Ryan had nearly killed me when he locked me down in our basement when I asked him who he was with before I moved in with Bailey and Evan.
That was the roughest week of my life.
I heard a light knock on the door, breaking me from my thoughts. "Who is it?" I asked.
"It's Evan! There's someone here to see you, Brooke!" I bunched my brows in confusion.
"If it's Ryan, tell him to go home."
"It isn't Ryan!" He said making me more confused.
I sighed, "I'll be there shortly." I told him, letting the water out.
I really wanted to relax in my bath before I ate and went to bed.
I got out and wrapped myself up in a towel. I walked out of the bathroom and saw somebody standing in the corner of the bedroom.
It only took me 1 guess to know exactly who it was.
"You aren't supposed to be here."
