The words hung in the air.
“I understand,” I muttered.
The doctor nodded and walked away, leaving Elewon and me alone again.
“What are you waiting for?” Elewon shouted at me. “Go save her!”
“What?” I looked at her, confused.
“You heard the doctor. Are you just going to stand here? Do you want her to die?”
“Of course not.” I ran my fingers through my hair. My mind was racing. This couldn’t be happening. “But I can’t—”
“Can’t what?” She stepped closer, her eyes blazing. “You’ve already slept with her once. Why are you acting like this is some impossible thing?”
