On the next day, Ray arrived at the Grass Sword sect with Clara and Ralf.
" Identify yourself. " A guard blocked the entrance, asking coldly.
" We're here to see Elder Brayan. " Ray said, looking ahead.
" Humph...you lowly mortal, is the elder Brayan someone you can meet casually? Get out or else". At this point, the guard pointed his spear toward Ray and shouted.
"What's happening here? " A scholarly looking young man came inquiring.
" Ah...It's nothing Senior Brother Rylee. These mortals were just spouting some nonsense and I was about to send them away. " The guard said with a flattering smile.
The disciple named Rylee squinted his eyes at Ray and Ralf.
"It's you...you should have come sooner. Come with me." Rylee said, recognizing Ray. He was present at that time when Bryan wanted to recruit Ray.
Seeing that Ray was an acquaintance of Rylee, the guard hurriedly backed away.
" I apologise. I didn't know that you were an acquaintance of Senior Brother Rylee." The guard bowed and apologized.
Ray waved his hand and smiled. He didn't care whether he apologized or not.
" Let's go. " Rylee started leading the way.
Rylee didn't show any arrogance nor contempt toward Ray and Ralf. He patiently explained a few things. He was an inner disciple, so with his status no one dared to cause trouble.
" You shouldn't take advantage of my master's kindness. He is very charitable and gracious. You should work hard and repay master's kindness in the future, " Rylee said with a serious expression.
" Sure. I never repay kindness with enmity." Ray chuckled slightly as he said.
" Thats good. Master is waiting for you. Go inside." Rylee pointed toward the room.
Ray opened the door and entered with Clara and Ralf without hesitation.
An elderly man was sitting in the room counting coins. He was none other than elder Brayan.
" You're here. Come take a seat." Brayan said to Ray, pointing at the chairs next to him.
Ray sat in the chair slowly as Clara jumped, sitting down on his lap comfortably. Ralf stood behind Ray just like a servant.
" This little girl is a rare talent. When she grows up she'll be a peerless cultivator." Brayan praised, looking at Clara with sparkling eyes.
This guy sure likes to recruit talented people, but his own talent wasn't enough to reach the peak. If he were graced a little with heaven's blessing, through his insight, he would have already become a powerful ancestor of any first-rate sect.
" Thats a given. If she can't be someone peerless then that will be disappointing." Ray said, rubbing her head.
Brayan was taken aback for a while, then he suddenly laughed.
" Wise man's thoughts are alike. Although you are far from being a cultivator, your vision surpasses the other younger generations."
" You praise me too much, elder Brayan." Ray laughed, replying humbly.
" Let's get to the topic. I discussed about you with the sect master, and he said if you can pass five tests then you can directly join the sect as an inner disciple.
Normally, disciples would take three tests. If they pass the tests, then they'll join the sect as an outer disciple. They have to stay as an outer disciple for three years and give another test to get promotion as an inner disciple. But we made an exception just for you.
You don't need to get a full score in each test, just getting an average score will be fine." Brayan explained to Ray slowly.
" I understand. So when can I take the test? " Ray asked.
" You just arrived here today. Take it slowly. You can take the tests three days later. In the meantime, you should relax your mind and body, so the fatigue won't affect you later."
Ray just smiled at his words. The so-called test was just a breeze for him, not worth mentioning.
" You will be living temporarily in our guest mountain.
"Rylee! Show him the way."
Brayan said.
"Yes master." Brayan came in and bowed.
While reaching the guest mountain villa, Rylee gave Ray some advices.
Although Ray didn't need his advice, he couldn't just say it out loud. The guy was saying it out of good will, so Ray just listened quietly.
" Senior Brother Rylee long time no see. Your sudden visit to the guest mountain surprised me. " A skinny looking young man said to Rylee.
"Junior Brother Ray and his companions will be living in the guest mountain for a while, so I came here to show him the way. Junior Brother Ray this is Kendall. He is in charge of guest mountain." Rylee introduced him with a smile.
" Oh...so that's how it is. Is he here to take the entry test?" The skinny looking young man squinted his eyes at Ray and asked.
" Yes. My master regards junior brother Ray very highly and personally recommended him to the sect master."
" Elder Brayan is visionary. I believe he wouldn't recommend any random person." Kendall said with mild laughter.
" Junior Brother Ray, if you face any problems staying here you can say to Kendall. He'll give you a hand." In reply to his words, Ray nodded slightly.
