Ray left Jedan city right after the fight with vallal family and arrived at Jade Water City. The security of Jade water city was very strict so that no blood demon sects disciple could enter or leave.
Ray passed the security check without any difficulty.
" Are you three new here in the city?" A guard approached them and asked with a friendly smile.
Ray nodded, looking at him.
" You should know there are few rules in the city which you should never violate or the consequences wouldn't be good. The first one is you can't start a fight while staying inside the city or else you'll be executed in public.
When someone attacks you, only then are you allowed for self-defense. We'll judge accordingly after investigating which side initiated the battle first.
These two rules were set up by the azure sky sect long ago and had been implemented in each city which came under the jurisdiction of the sect.
You will be safe as long as you're inside the city. The city lord will also provide justice against evil."
His words also had a hidden meaning.
Ray just smiled but Ralf quickly added "Rest assured, sir, we definitely won't break any rules."
" That's better." The guard went away after giving them a brief explanation.
" Big Brother, I'm hungry. Let's eat something." Clara said, shaking Ray's hand.
Ray took her hand and walked away slowly.
' Finally, we're inside a safe place where those blood demon sect couldn't get their hands on.' Ralf felt a little relieved inside. '
Ray found an empty table in a corner of the tavern and sat with Clara.
" You sit on the floor. " Clara said, pointing her finger at the floor.
She said very earnestly, as if it was the right thing to do. Ralf smiled wryly, not knowing what to say.
" Sir, you can sit here. " A waiter brought a chair quickly.
" Haha, thank you. " Ralf said, laughing and sat down.
" Um...young master..." Ralf wanted to say something but kept hesitating.
" You want to ask about how to get stronger?" Ray said while eating.
" Yes. Although I know my condition well, even if there's a sliver of chance...." His voice became quieter.
" Strength doesn't come after one day of practice. A strong mind bears a strong will. Although you don't have much talent and there's a foreign object which has halted your growth, but as long as you have the will to get stronger, there will always be a way."
" I understand young master. As long as there's a way, I'm willing to give it my all. " Ralf wanted to express his gratitude, but Ray waved his hand and gestured at him not to create a dramatic scene.
" Young man, your words are very deep and insightful. " An elderly man who was sitting at the next table said to Ray approvingly with a smile.
Few younger people were also sitting next to him, it looked like they were his disciples. Maybe the elderly man was from a middle-level sect.
Ray smiled back at him.
After finishing the meal, Ray, Clara and Ralf left the tavern.
" Excuse me little brother, may I have some of your time?" It was the same elderly man from the tavern. Few young boys and girls were behind him. They observed Ray curiously from head to toe.
" Sure no problem." Ray nodded.
" I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Brayan, an elder of the grass sword sect. It's just a middle level sect not much. The thing is..." At this point, Ray interrupted him and said "You want to take me as a disciple?"
" Ah...hehe little brother is so smart. You just came to this city and have no place to stay. If you join our sect, then you will get a place to stay and there's many benefits you can get after joining. Why not think about it?" The elderly man said in one breath, full of enthusiasm.
" Okay." Ray agreed directly. Ralf felt a little confused.
Elder Brayan laughed heartily.
" Are you sure you want someone like me who doesn't even have any cultivation. " Ray asked.
" A pearl can shine even at night, no matter what. You have a rare temperament which can hardly be seen among the younger generation. I believe you can achieve something great in the future. " Elder Brayan said, his words were full of sincerity.
" Who knows, maybe you just brought a wisp of fire into your house without realizing it. " Ray laughed and said.
" Maybe the wisp of fire will be the only source of brightness. " Brayan countered.
" I still want to look around the city for a while so I'll find you at the sect later. " Ray didn't say anything. He knew that the guy was hellbent on making him join the sect.
" Sure.... " Brayan happily led away his disciples.
" Young master why did you suddenly agreed to join his sect. Maybe he have some hidden agenda. " Ralf whispered in rays ear.
" No need to think so much. " Ray smiled and shook his head.
Ralf didn't say anything anymore.
" Umm master, is there any specific reason for you to invite that young man earlier? " Along the way a disciple asked Brayan. They couldn't contain their curiosity about why an elder of their prestigious sect would invite an unknown person, who didn't have any shred of cultivation.
" Yes master, does he possess some kind of unique aptitude? "
Hearing their questions, Brayan shook his head, his brows furrowed into a knot, contemplating something.
"It's just an instinctive feeling, the moment I saw him it was like I was seeing someone unique, but i don't know how to describe it. Maybe its fate. I don't know whether he possesses any special aptitude or not, but he is no ordinary kid for sure. "
The disciples didn't understand what he was talking about, they could only tilt their heads dumbly.
