Cliches are cliches because they hold universal truths – overused or not.
But, just because we women often sprinkle our everyday conversation with these oft visited gems of verbal convenience there is no sensible reason to ignore their import.
For instance, I’ve lost track of the times I’ve heard or read the words “control the c**k and you control the man” from either lips or console.

Should we allow familiarity to devalue the essential truth of a statement that is both sage and obvious at one and the same time?
