Chapter Twelve

(Author's note:  More violence, more adult themes, and more potential triggers in this chapter, again, I'll try to keep it from getting to dark, but sometimes Katrina just has a mind of her own and keeps doing her own thing, so if you are worried, skip this chapter.) ***Katrina's POV***     I was lead down another hallway, to a door guarded by one man this time, no keypad, I guess they didn't expect much out of subs and pets, but since it worked to my advantage, I wasn't likely to complain this time.  Continuing to make soft whimpering sounds like I was in distress, I let the suit continue to lead me into the room, glancing around to find that there were about a dozen other 'pets' here.  The suit locked my leash to a ring on the wall, before running a hand over my ass lightly.     "Now while we keep your master entertained, stay here and maybe someone will be by to treat you if you behave." The lust in his voice was no longer hidden like he had in front of Nathanial, and when I pretended to tremble in fear, I sensed his desire growing.  Sick bastard, I'd make sure I take him out, he was mine now, he just didn't know it yet.     He left the room, and I kept up the act while checking out what was in this room with me, about eight females, four males, all of which were extremely lean.  I could tell the males were humans, easily, but the females, they were all weaker ones, four shifters, two witches, two vamps, all of which looked like they'd had some kinds of drugs forced into them, their auras were clouded on top of being weak.     Well, I won't be able to count on any of the other pets here, there are a dozen, all either human or drugged up.  The feeling of resignation and despair is almost suffocating.  Also, when we strike, the suit is mine.  I updated Nathanial, knowing that communication was going to be key in this.     And why would you get that particular one?  Beyond that, as good as I am, I'm not certain that I could take on this many on my own without our target for the night escaping, and neither of us is close to him at the moment.  His voice still had a growl to it and I could tell his beast was still close to the surface for some reason.     I may be able to help level the playing field, but why the hell is your beast still growling at me, and I get the perv cause he touched my ass and I couldn't zap him, seems he wants to treat me for being a good girl.     Seriously, you cannot be that oblivious?  And you better hope that you find him before I do, what's the plan?  There was a tone of disbelief and astonishment in Nathanial's tone, that took the edge off enough to switch to an almost playful tone as he commented on which of us would find the suit first.     Gonna need a second on that one, just a moment.  I blocked the link with Nathanial, reaching out instead to Matthew.  How's the signal been?  Or do you need a report?     We had signal, but still need a report since those sensors are still experimental and can't catch everything,  excellent job sneaking the sensor onto Nathanial by the way, while it isn't as high as I would like, it's still picking up information from his area.  And there are missing person cases open on some of the people in that room with you, male and female.     I updated Matthew as quickly as I could on everything, feeling a growing pressure from Nathanial trying to reach me, it wasn't panic, but it was concern and a bit of nervous energy, I was betting someone was on the move and I better be ready soon.     Okay princess, fry the security locks, we'll get back up in to help Nathanial, you take care of whatever is heading your way.     I focused my energy for a moment, feeling the different electrical currents that were in my body, and while the rest would be an unfocused burst that would make it seem like there was a minor hiccup with the power to the building, the smaller secondary wave would mess up all electronic locks, and let them both rip.     Stop ignoring me you bloody menace!  The target is heading your way now and we aren't ready yet.  Damnit woman talk to me!  Nathanial's voice was no longer playful and closing in on panic now.     Stop yelling in my head you damned cat!  Back up is heading in, we'll see what he is up to and then finish the plan.     I could hear growling in the back of my head again, and was getting a little irritated with him at this moment.  This is why I didn't like having partners, they freak out at every little thing, I'd rather work alone or call in support that will stick to following orders that I don't have to make, that was Matthew's job.  The door was opening, and I huddled into myself as I could feel the twisted energy of a warlock entering the room, Gabriel was here and so was the suit.     "So this is the new one?"  I heard one of them say, and based on the fact that it was a new voice, and a rather snobbish one, I was betting it was Gabriel.     "Yes, sir, she came in with that weak assed hot tempered cat."  It was the suit, that much I knew.  Makes me wonder why he said weak, I mean I knew he was pulling his punches a lot, I'd been more focused on marking targets to pass on if needed. "He let a damned half-breed get hits in on him, and fought him for longer than a minute, most new fighters refuse to even start a match with him."     "Easy to get rid of then?  Good to know."  I huddled in on myself, whimpering and trying to look pathetic, while relaying this all to Nathanial.  "Let's let her wait here a little longer first, but we can take someone else to play for now."     I watched the two from the corner of my eye as the two selected one of the men and started dragging him off, talking softly while he trembled and gave off wave over wave of terror following them.     We have to move soon, he took one of the innocents with him, and I'm not sure what he has planned but from the terror rolling off him, I'm amazed the guy didn't piss himself on the spot.      I felt his affirmative, and reached out for Matthew to check status of where we were at now, getting a green light to make our move, it was now or never and we couldn't risk another person at this point.  I stopped my act dead, looking at the lock that they had used to try and attach me to the wall, nothing too complicated, and should be easy enough to handle.  I pulled a bobby pin from my hair, bending it to the angle I needed using the pin to open it, shaking my head at how easy these morons made things.  I removed one of the longer chains that I had attached to my dress earlier, they were made to look like costume jewelry, but under the cheep plating they were actually a mix of metals that were hard for most super naturals to break, and once the plating broke away, lets say because the chain was used as a garrote and it flaked off from that, it would burn most of them and reduce their strength, but the plating kept them from sensing most of the metal as it was under the cheep stuff.     I found the others watching me with interest now, and one opened her mouth before a dark look from me silenced her.  I turned back to the door with a dark smile spreading on my face, no lock, no squeaky door, and one guard facing the hall as the 'pets' were to scared or drugged up to do anything, I felt like they were begging someone to kill them and I had no problem answering that call.  I eased up to the door, making sure that my steps were silent and my heart rate stayed steady, thinking for a moment, I was going to have to open the door, wrap the chains in my hands, jump to catch him, and then strangle him, I didn't like those particular odds, but I could stack the deck in my favor if I could get some of them to play with me.  I glanced at the girl that was still watching me, and one of the others that looked more coherent at the moment.     You two want out of here, right?  I watched them both nod, looking at each other then me, eyes widening. Good, I need one of you to act like you are having a seizure and the other to scream your head off with some genuine sounding fear, think you can do that when I signal for you to do that.  Again they both nodded, and I stationed myself to the side of the door, I was lucky it was one that had a limit as to how far it would open, so hiding myself behind that wouldn't be a problem, and bonus, close to a wall I could bounce off of for extra height, not much since I wouldn't be able to get a good run at it, but sometimes contrary to what people may say, inches matter.     Once I was in place I nodded, the two looked at each other and the one closest to the corner away from the door laid down and started twitching and flopping, I was actually pretty impressed, when the other let out a bloodcurdling scream.  Dang, was she part banshee or something, I was glad I was prepared as all the others started freaking out with the two of them, finally ignoring me, bonus!  The door opened and our guard ambled in saying something, hard to tell what with all the other noise going on but I wasn't going to waste the chance either, taking a couple quick steps I used the wall as a spring board launching myself at him, and got the chain over his head, quickly swapping the chain in my hands to cross it and apply more pressure as I clung to his back, digging my heels into his hipbones as a leverage point and throwing the rest of my weight back against the chains.  I could feel him trying to get a grip on the chains, but failing as the metal dug further and further into the flesh of his throat.   Finally he stopped trying, and as I felt his body start to fail, I readjusted so that fat bastard wouldn't fall on me, before I removed the chain though, I made sure to snap his neck, then cleaning my chain off as much as I could with his shirt, I dug around in his pocket finding keys and throwing them at one of the girls.     "There are others working with me, you need to stay here until we finish clearing this place out, after that, we'll help you get out and home, but I figure you may at least want to move around, but stay in this room, understand?"     They nodded, and the first one release went to the corpse of the guard and kicked it with a vengeance, personally I didn't care if they ripped it to pieces if it helped them feel better, I had other places to be.  Leaving the room, I headed back towards the main room, figuring one of these back halls was going to lead me to the room where Gabriel and his little goony were at.  The goony was another warlock, and since I knew they had a human, it was going to be safe to use my little trick potion in my shoe.  Composed of a mix of herbs that were known to suppress negative energy and power, in particular mugwort, yarrow, and elderberry, once the container was open the fumes from the mix tended to prevent warlocks from casting as their magic worked with dark energy.  Nifty trick, down side was, if we had someone who was a witch that used combat magic, the vapor couldn't tell friend from foe, and combat magic could still be considered a negative even if used for good.     I could hear the sound of more fighting happening and wondered where Nathanial was, hoping that he had eyes on how to get to the room, while everything else looked like flat out chaos.  I could see some agents, but they were picking all kinds of targets, starting fights with others, pushing people into fights, the chaos was well planned to look like true chaos, and not like we were taking out the guards.     Traveling down one hall in particular though I saw Nicholas in the middle of fighting off two guards who we teaming up on him, when I saw the hyena from earlier approaching him from behind holding a silver knife while trying to sneak up on his blind side.  I felt my rage growing, as I reached behind for the chain clipped to my back side.  I adjusted as I ran, holding the ends in my hands for the moment while I ducked in and under his arms with a faked panic look on my face,  my hands holding the thin cases against his where his heart and one of his lungs would be.     "Please wait I need...." I acted hysterical, and waited for him to look down at me before I dropped the act, shocking the cases to release the blades, the silver cutting straight into his organs without pause. "...you to stand still."  I grinned looking at the dead shifter before me, turning to look at the guards that had been attacking Nathanial and as I walked towards them, swinging on of the blades at the end of the chain I just smiled as the blood flew off the blade.     The two turned tail and ran, though I knew they'd be caught sooner or later by one of our people, there were enough of them running around now.     Nathanial looked me over, like he was checking for damage, his eyes fully gold, he looked for a moment like he was gonna pull me close, but kept an eye on the silver blades still out.  Glancing around I found someone knocked out that I could clean the blood off them before putting them back in their cases and draping the chain across the back of my neck.     "Did you see which way the warlocks went?"  I looked to Nathanial, and he nodded slightly, looking down the hallway where he had been heading, which I started to head down before I felt him grab my wrist, pulling me back to him for a moment as he held me, taking deep breaths.     "I felt a dark presence here, worse than what Gabriel would be, and I couldn't get to you."  Nathanial growled into my neck, making my body tingle in ways I'd enjoy at any other time, but right now I was working and I had a couple warlocks that I wanted to see again.  Pulling away from him I gave him the stink eye and shook my head.     "I'm fine and right now this is wasting time where we should be saving an innocent that can't protect themselves, get your head in the game."  I charged down the hallway, seeing the door I needed showing up, I could feel the energy building there, and I knew the feel of dark magic, I dropped down, clicking the spot to open the compartment in my heel, knowing I'd need the vial as soon as we got the door opened, and as I stood, the next thing I saw was a giant black blur race past me to the door.  Nathanial in panther form hit the door at a dead run, and busted through with ease, thankfully Gabriel and the suit were both in the room as I charged in after, between the two, the human was strapped to a table, stripped bare and bleeding but still alive as they were raising the dark energy for blood magic.  Snarling I lobbed the vial at their feet, watching it shatter into a million pieces that exploded around the room, including through their clothes stabbing the two and causing them to have burning pains in their legs.     Nathanial stalked and pinned Gabriel, while I grabbed my chain from my neck, swinging the sheathed blades while stalking the suit.     "I guess I wasn't a good little pet."
