I have tried to contact Jesse many times to no avail. What is keeping that child? “You know she is the best” Tina my vampire spirit chimed in.

“I know”

“You realize that that witch hybrid was masking his scent, and he lied to us about pack loyalties as well. He is a Gamma!” She groans.

“I know but he is helping winter for a reason.”

She hisses “Why would a wolf help her unless that Alex is involved.”

“Perhaps but if it helps her and we get answers is all that matters, maybe luck will be on our side and he is her mate” I respond to which she hisses louder, “Blasphemy, you will see her lie with the dogs?”

“Tina if it meant that she has her powers to protect herself and take the thrones she could be happy then yes, the hybrid seemed like a nice enough pup anyway.” “But” she whined.

“No buts Tina it would be best for her. I prefer she be with one of our kind but just like with her father if that is her fated then that is better than no one especially as she stands right now. Also, a powerful Lycan would be better than human.” “Human” She wails almost to the point of giving me a headache, “The vermin” She snarled.

“See it could always be worse” I laugh at her earning me another hiss.

“Grams,” A soft knock on my office doors draws my attention.

“Yes” Vincent walks in dashing like his father causing a small pain in my chest, I miss my darling boy more and more each day. We should have had eternity together. I shake the thoughts, “Yes come in darling.” I stand.

“Please don’t get up on my account grandmother.”

“Very well what brings you here?” I feared he would come to complain about Melanie. Vincent always seemed to have been caught up in Jasamine’s web of schemes.

“Well first off I want to thank you Grams for sending me away to train.”

“You are thanking me?” He was not fond of the idea when he left months ago. “What is he playing at?” Tina questioned.

“Yes, I have seen a lot and learned a lot. I realized the world is not all black or white. The elders I have tutored under were fantastic. I also spent time with the coven hearing stories of dad. Met some of his hold acquaintances.” HE smiled genuinely. “I was immature and arrogant. I can never make up for what I have done, caused and let go on or been part of. I realize now also the burden and weight of being a leader and what that means. I hope that I make you proud grandmother. Also, I wanted to ask you a favor about Melanie.”

There it is Tina hissed, “Let me guess you want Melanie denounced or sent away?” Anger began to seep out of me. Just when I thought he had changed.

“What!!!” Of course not!!!” He raised his voice drawing my attention back to him. “I want the opposite. I want you to appoint Melanie Queen. If being gone has taught me anything it is respect for the moon goddess. She chose Melanie to be born first for a reason and she is the rightful queen. If her powers are locked or nonexistent then that is how Selene intended, it to be. Who are we to question? Or to try and change her will?”

I was flabbergasted He was defending Melanie. He was praising the moon goddess. He stood calm and collected staring at me, the leader I had hoped he would become. His long waist coat, black trousers, paired with a red vest, white shirt and red tie made him look even more powerful and elegant. “There is something else I wanted to discuss with you.” He seemed nervous all of sudden, more like a child than he just had. All of a sudden, confidence just vanished. I waited for him to continue. “You had sent word for our guards to keep watch for unusual activity. I increased our patrols. I sent word to other territories and ask them to do the same with instructions for any all new odd or unusual concerns to be reported immediately. Along our border and Bloodmoon a few days ago, we caught sight of a new, well, I don’t know, really know what it is. We have been calling him creature X.” He hands me a folder; I open it to see a hideous beast with vampire-like fangs but Lycan like claws. It had scrawny arms with no muscle to them at all and ash colored skin with yellow eyes.

“Vincent what on earth?”

“I know” He takes a deep breath, “Its unprecedented His skeletal structure appeared to be strong, but its facial appearance seems to be decaying.”

“Can it speak?”

“Not that we or anything magical, can decipher It screams and growls also doesn’t seem to understand anything we say.”

“Hell beast” tina whispers “or demonic possession”

“don’t be silly” I respond.

“Any other ideas.” She asks.

“Do we have any ideas on what it is or where it came from?”

“No”

“What does it want.”

“We do not know but it attacked a human between our territories and within thirty minutes the human showed signs of turning. We brought her back to the hospital within the coven’s mansion, she become one of them within an hour of the attack.”

“And we don’t have any leads?”

“Unfortunately, no, it’s why I’m here. I want permission to contact the Lycan king. We have a problem and from the look on your face Grams you are as concerned as I am but also as clueless as I am. If they have experienced this being perhaps together, we can stop it.”

“I’ll make the contact son, see if he can pay a visit until then lock these things up tight be onlook out for more. Send word to a library for someone to research more and contact the elders of the coven. Double the patrols on the human territories as a precaution. There must be information on these beings from somewhere. They couldn’t have just appeared. They had to come from somewhere and if they are here, they must have a purpose we just need to find out what that purpose is …”
