“If our first child is a baby boy, then you must not leave this palace, and you must not remarry. But if this child is a baby girl, then you may remarry—and even divorce me without any title.”

That was the agreement reached by Levious Geeser and Agleria Mevola. A married couple brought together for political gain between their packs.

They set the date for their divorce for when their first child was born, but things didn’t go smoothly as originally agreed because love suddenly blossomed.

But will this marriage survive even if Agleria gives birth to a baby girl?

The Agreement of Political Marriage
Levious's POV *** “A political marriage? I could never sleep with that woman to continue my lineage. She is my father's wife!” “They are not officially married yet, King Levious. Your father has not touched her either. So Agleria can be your wife.” The white-bearded man in the black robe bowed politely as I sat on the royal throne. I growled. “I am a cursed werewolf. I haven't even been able to move my left hand for a year. I am disabled! Why are you crowning me as lycan king?!” The middle-aged man remained adamant about the pack leaders' decision. "I'm sorry, King Levious. This decision was made because you are the eldest son of Sqear Geeser. No one can take the eldest son's right to the throne. So, you will still be chosen as the lycan king, even though you are cursed by the wolfbane." “Then what about the woman from the Mevola pack? How can you bear to let her marry a man like me?!” "Before he died, Sqear Geeser bought her with gold. They also made an agreement to strengthen their kingdoms with a political marriage. So all the benefits have been discussed, including the consequences of this marriage." Whatever their reasons, I still want to refuse. I don't want to be tied to a woman in any way, let alone marriage. “I don't want to get married. Give her to my brother.” “Every son of Sqear Geeser has five or more wives, not to mention his concubines. Only you have not gotten a wife. Besides, the princess of the Mevola pack is very beautiful and still a virgin.” I stood up from my chair, drew my sword from its sheath, and pointed the tip of the sword at the pack leader's chin. “Tell her it's better to be the sixth wife than to marry a cursed werewolf like Levious Geeser.” The middle-aged man looked startled and seemed to have trouble swallowing his own saliva at that moment. “Forgive me, King Levious. You can kill me tonight, but you really can't refuse this marriage.” I snorted in annoyance and sheathed my sword, then rode out of the palace on horseback. I felt weighed down by a burden I should never have touched. “I have to do something before this marriage begins.” Tonight was a night of bloodshed. At the very least, I had to take out all my frustration on the mastermind behind all these problems. I had lived in the western mountains for more than ten years after my mother died. I had killed hundreds of rogues who tried to enter the main gate of the Geeser pack, and all of this was not difficult for me. Also tonight, I had succeeded in killing an alpha who was the mastermind behind Sqear Geeser's death. Although the battle ended after sunrise, I still managed to vent my frustration. He's dead. “There's still time.” I finally rode my horse and returned to the Geeser pack's palace to continue my wedding with the girl from the Mevola pack. There was no music, choir, or trumpets, which were usually the hallmarks of a wedding blessing party. Perhaps this was because the wedding was so close to the death of Sqear Geeser, the previous Lycan king. I saw the woman who was to become my wife waiting on the altar, looking surprised at my current appearance. “Sorry to keep you waiting, Luna.” "I'm sorry, King Levious. It seems you must change your clothes first." A priest who was the representative of the Moon Goddess spoke before blessing our marriage. I chose to obey and took off my battle armor, and several people began to dress me in a white shirt and white suit, without changing my pants. I did this in front of all the guests, not caring what they thought at that moment. Everyone was completely shocked to see what happened at this wedding. They seemed angry because I didn't obey the Geeser pack's etiquette and defiled the sacred altar with someone's blood. But it seemed like they didn't dare to speak openly to me. "I am King Levious of the Geeser Pack. I have taken Luna of the Mevola pack as my wife, Princess Agleria. We will be husband and wife who will live together in good times and bad, in sickness and in health, and in joy and in sorrow." This time, Agleria also made a vow in front of everyone present. “I am Princess Agleria of the Mevola pack. I have taken King Levious as my husband. We will be husband and wife and will live together in good times and bad, in sickness and in health, and in joy and in sorrow.” We were both asked to exchange rings as a symbol of our union. I first placed the ring on Agleria's left ring finger, then vice versa. Even though my left hand was paralyzed, I still chose to place the ring there. I was also asked to kiss my wife's forehead in front of all the guests. “With this... I declare that King Levious of the Geeser pack and Princess Agleria of the Mevola pack are now officially husband and wife.” All the guests began to applaud without whistling or shouting, like awkward applause. After the wedding blessing was over, a guard began to blow a trumpet from outside the wedding hall and asked all the people of the Geeser pack to gather at the main gate. I left the room, not to the tower but to the chamber. Princess Agleria followed my footsteps without saying a word. She had the right to follow me anywhere because we were a legally married couple. “King Levious, don't you want to hear the announcement that the guard is about to make?” asked Agleria when we were inside the room. “You can hear the guard from here,” I replied as I took off my shirt and white jacket. Shouts began to be heard. “King Levious has killed King Vivian today in the eastern mountains! King Vivian was a traitor and had killed King Sqear Geeser. Therefore, we will hold a big party because King Levious has won many tributes from the three werewolf kingdoms at once.” Everyone outside was cheering happily, but not my wife. She didn't say anything, but her eyes kept looking at my upper body, which was not covered by any clothes. “You're hurt. Do you want me to bandage your wound?” “It's just a scratch,” I replied in a deep voice. “Blood is still flowing from your back, even your white shirt is covered in blood.” The woman sighed softly. “I'll get some water and a piece of cloth.” I grabbed her wrist to stop her. “Are you a healer?” “N-no,” she replied stammeringly. “You are my wife, let the healer heal me later.” I gave her a flat stare. “This bleeding will stop if I take a bath.” “B-but—” “Now, lie down on the bed and we will make children until I have a son.” A frown appeared on Agleria's forehead. “A baby boy? Don't you want a daughter?” “Only a son can be crowned lycan king.” “I mean, why—” I interrupted my wife again. “I don't want to live in the palace. I want to be free and live in the western mountains like I used to.” “Then what about me?” "I don't know. I just want you to give birth to a son for me and he will replace me as lycan king after he turns seven." “What if I can't give birth to a son for you?” “I will find a wife from another pack who can give me a son.” I tried to approach Agleria, who was still wearing her wedding dress. “You have many advantages if you marry me, one of which is that you will become the queen mother. Gold, silver, and jewels will adorn your room.” “But I don't need all that. I just want a warm and loving family.” I frowned when I saw Agleria crying. She wanted a beautiful wedding with me, even though we didn't love each other. It all sounded strange. “I don't understand why you're crying. Don't all kings always have five or more wives? Why do you suddenly want the loyalty of a king?” Agleria looked at Levious with red, teary eyes. “Then let's make a agreement.” “Agreement?” Luna of the Geeser pack dared to look me in the eye. "If our first child is a boy, then you cannot leave this palace and you cannot remarry. But if this child is a girl, then you may remarry, even divorce me without any rank." I returned Agleria's gaze from close up and nodded slowly as if accepting the agreement my wife had made. “Deal. Now take off your dress and lie down on the bed. I accept the agreement.”
