"The officer's body was burnt beyond recognition by a boy. The question is, is this boy an alien or a demon? Myths exist, is this one of them? A witness from the train reports - " The screen revealed the woman who had earlier supported Gavin and rebuked the officer. "I knew reporters must have trooped to the scene the moment we left the train" Mona said to Daren who was standing at the table behind her while she was still facing the television. "That boy is nothing but a demon! He is a demon! We watched him shoot fire at the officer burning him - " The television was switched off, Mona turned to see Daren standing beside her with the remote control. "What are you doing? Am watching the news" "Don't you think it would be better if we forgot the train scene? Let's celebrate the success of the deal. You did quite a great job at the company" Mona smiled, Daren was right though. Reminiscing on the train scene would do nothing but heighten her anxiousness to see Gavin again. She nodded to Daren who was busy sipping coffee from his coffee cup. "Let's go celebrate with a perfect dinner" Daren smiled at her. Mona couldn't the urge to smile back. Daren always knew how to drill tense situations. "Get dressed - " Daren said as he walked into the shower. Mona couldn't help but smile to herself in the mirror. She had carefully earned even more than the establishments from the company for Daren, he must be proud of her. She hoped she would be sent here to work in the newly established bank, she would gradually become a millionaire. Without wasting any time, she slipped into her white tank top over a navy blue trouser. She wasn't too interested in make up that evening so she quickly brushed straight her tangled hair. Her head ached when she remembered it would be the last dinner she would be having with Daren. They would be on their way home first flight tomorrow morning. Her face paled as she sank into the sofa nearby, it was indeed fun to be with her boss. She picked her cellphone and checked the time, it was 7pm. Even time seemed to be jealous of her stay with the hot bachelor. If she were to make a wish, then she would wish to stay forever with Daren. She brushed off the thoughts about Daren when she remembered the saucy lady at the conference room. The bathroom door flung open and Daren walked out with a towel wrapped around his waist and another on his hands which he used to Pat his hair dry. Mona turned to stare at his muscular body. It was her first time seeing his heavy body, the visible six partings on his stomach and his broad chest. Mona remembered how she'd prayed to date a muscular guy back then in college. Staring at Daren right now, it was like a dream come true. Her breath began to quicken while she managed to swallow the lump in her throat with her eyes still locked on Daren's body. She felt the urge to rush him and tickle his chest, then slowly kiss his chest. Damn, he must be a gym guy. Daren caught Mona's eyes on his body, he managed to understand what her mind was thinking. "Mona the event last night was a mistake. Stop staring at me like that, I have no interest in you" Daren thought to himself but he wasn't sure about it. He had really enjoyed her lips but that didn't imply he'd fall for her cheap charms. He regained his balance and quickly covered his bare chest with the towel in his hands. Mona caught herself as well. "Emm - Mona, could you mind turning around?" Mona nodded repeatedly, she knew she was being ridiculous. Daren had caught her eyes on his body and God knows what he might be thinking about her right now. Slowly, she turned to the other side and exhaled clutching her phone tightly. She closed her eyes and inhaled Daren's shampoo coming from the bathroom. The fragrance stood before her like an unyielding pillar taking over her senses and body. She felt as though Daren was right before her. The shampoo slowly faded and was replaced by another fragrance, she quickly remembered that smell. Now her mind kept telling her that Daren was standing right before her but she managed to brush it off. If he was done preparing, he would call her definitely. She smiled when she remembered Daren's soft lips over hers last night, she wanted more to come but it just can't because they would part ways tomorrow. How cruel is nature to her, ridding her of her one true desire. Desire? Did she just day desire? Daren is her boss for goodness sake! She heard some snaps in front of her and she quickly jolted back, opening her eyes like she'd just seen her prey. Her mind was right after all, Daren had been standing right before her. He must have seen her smiling, oh no! "Umm - when did you?" Daren chuckled, "when I asked you to turn around, I didn't say you should shut your eyes as well" Mona smiled, he saw it as a joke anyways. "I was making sure my eyes are focused" Daren managed a grin across his face before Mona caught his dressing for dinner, very simple but handsome. He wore a crisp white shirt over a dark Jean and white shoes. He looked like a high school student except for his broad shoulders, his hair was brushed right into his forehead partly covering his right eye. Mona managed to smile, "boss can you stop being too handsome?" Mona thought to herself. If her boss keeps on being too handsome, she would end up kissing him before he even realised it. She sighed, her imaginations had been so corrupt lately. "Let's head for dinner Mona - " Mona nodded and stood up walking right behind Daren who turned almost immediately to the door. Before Daren could get to the door, the beautiful receptionist at the desk opened the door to show her beautiful face painted with smiles. Daren was the first to see her, he was a bit surprised. "Hi - " Daren greeted. "Sorry to disturb you sir but I guess you watched the news?" Mona moved to Daren's left to look into the receptionist's face, "the news?" Her eyes met Daren's inquisitive ones. She gave him the look of, " you switched it off, didn't you?" Daren turned back to the receptionist, traces of surprise on his face. He didn't believe there was anything about the news that could affect them. "What about the news?" "The government has ordered a total lockdown - " "What!" Both Mona and Daren shouted wide eyed. A total lockdown means they would have to stay back here in South Leone until the lockdown is called off, meaning he had to spend few more days, weeks or months with Mona in the same room. No! That won't be possible, they have to leave before the lockdown gets too serious. "Why was the lockdown ordered?" "There is a recent outbreak of a virus that has killed a thousand here in South Leone attracting the government. So the quest to stop the virus from spreading until a cure is found necessitated the lockdown" "You can't be serious. I mean we can't stay here for more than a week. Can't we get special provisions to leave the country. I mean we are not from here. We just came here for a business deal" Daren asked still finding it hard to believe he would spend more than a week or indefinitely without attending to his company personally. "The airport has been shut down since 4pm - " "Oh no! The lockdown has not gotten too serious. We can still leave right?" Mona asked. On her part, sh didn't know how Scott would accept the news or York clan given that she had promised to visit the general alpha once she returns from the trip. "The lockdown just got serious. I'll take my leave now - " Daren sighed repeatedly as he watched the receptionist leave for another door down the hall. An outbreak just when they arrived South Leone. He felt like crying. Mona went over to the sofa and sat on it losing her appetite for food. Though she wanted to spend more time with Daren, not in this way. Not in the way of restricting their movements. She can't handle staying with him in one room, not going to work and not being able to stand as York clan's alpha for presumably months. She bit her lower lip and allowed the frustration raking in her head to surge through her body. "We need to find a way to leave this country. I mean I can't just sit back here" Mona began when she heard Daren shut the door. "The government and the military has to make an exception. We need to leave - but how? The airport, train stations, bus stations has been shut down indefinitely" "Damn! Why didn't the reporters give this announcement before hand? We could have postponed the meeting. I can't just sit back here!" "I need to speak with Sylvia - " Mona had no idea who Sylvia was. She felt the need to ask as everything happening right now involves the two of them. "Who's Sylvia?" Daren turned to Mona like "are you serious? You don't know Sylvia?" He looked back to the cellphone already in his right palm. "Sylvia is my personal assistant. I need to call her so she could find a way to handle the business until I find a way to leave this virus infested useless country" Daren finally blurted out the anger and frustration in him. It was better than acting as though the lockdown was in his favour. Mona on the other hand stilled, the lady's face at the conference room flashed in her mind. Oh! She is his personal assistant, nothing more. She had feared Daren was already in a relationship with the lady given the way she hovered around him like an eagle protecting its territory. She finally exhaled, Daren is single. "Hi babe - " Mona froze. Did he just say babe? Mona's suspicions were right after all. The supposed personal assistant is his girlfriend. Oh no! Mona felt guilty for trying to take another person's man. She gently shut her eyes and allowed the guilt swipe through her. She vowed never to think about getting too close to Daren ever again, he is someone else's man. She felt luck would never shine on her, she may never be able to find her own man. "How are you?" Daren continued to the speaker on the other end. "Yeah - I may not be able to return tomorrow due to the forced lockdown" he turned to stare at Mona whose face bore panicked expression. He had no idea what she was thinking of at the moment. Mona caught him staring at her and managed a wry grin. "Yeah am sorry - Why are you shouting?" "Don't worry, I believe it won't take long - Don't miss me much. Yeah, bye" Mona finally composed herself when she heard him cut the call. Now the desire to go back to Mugeen exceeded it's borders within her. She felt the urge to leave Daren forever and think about nothing but work and York clan as that is what she was meant to do. She had to excuse herself after Daren cut his love call. "I'll go for a drink downstairs" Mona finally spoke and stood abruptly. She felt her legs shaking under her. The worst mistake of her life was kissing another lady's man last night, how shameful of her! Daren stared at her surprisingly, wondering how after complaining she'd lost her appetite would suddenly announce her thirst for some drink. "I'll join you then - " "I wish to be alone boss" Mona was fast to interrupt him. She wants to be far away from him henceforth, "I won't take long" Mona ignored his shocked expression and quickly picked her cellphone, making for the door almost immediately. The slamming of the door jolted Daren back to consciousness, he stared into the cellphone in his palms and back to the door Mona had just walked through. He wasn't sure what must have caused her recent behaviour, but he felt it must be because of the lockdown. Everyone had the right to be angry about the lockdown anyways. Probably this was Mona's style of showing her anger. Daren sighed, the lockdown - ____ Mona found herself moving down the hallway in anger, still cursing herself under her breath. She felt her throat tighten, then she clenched her teeth. She had been lusting after another lady's man. She felt like crying at the moment and prayed she could erase the events of last night totally from history. Quickly, she walked into the elevator and watched it shut. Being the only one in the small space, she finally broke down. Her eyes tightened and hot tears ran down her cheeks. Daren did treat her as a piece of trash by making such call right in her presence. Her heart began to beat faster and her blood boiled. Daren should have said earlier that he was already dating his personal assistant so she would avoid his charms. She cursed herself the more for being too cheap, what would Daren think of her now? A cheap night make over? A w***e? She clenched her fist and shut her eyes heavily. Crying won't change anything, last night was a mistake but today is a reality. She had to face reality. Daren can never be hers despite how hard she may try, she is not his match after all. When she realized the elevator doors are about to open, she quickly wiped her tears and walked out the door. The first thing that crossed her mind when she walked into the bar was to call Scott, that would bring some relief to her given that Scott would at least flatter her with his sweet words which may in turn cheer her up. She walked to an empty table beside the door and sat calmly. Without making any orders, she quickly called Scott, her last hope. "Hello - " "Mona - " Mona was startled. She withdrew the phone to stare into it as a way of making sure she didn't dial the wrong number but she was right, she was actually calling Scott. She was more confused given it was a female voice that she heard and the voice sounded so familiar. "Pi - Pi - Pina?" She stammered. Her lips flushed. She would cry out her eyes tonight if it turned out to be Pina. "Hi Mona - Scott is a bit busy now sleeping on my - " Mona didn't want to hear anymore, the panic rose to her face. No one wants her again, not even Scott. He is now after Pina! What the hell! He had once admitted that Pina is nothing but his rival but - She was confused even the more when she heard the struggle on the other end, it was Scott trying to take the phone from Pina. "I've warmed you to stay away from my cellphone - " "But I only - " "Hi Mona - Sorry, its just" Mona couldn't even talk, her lips quivered as fresh tears raced down her cheeks. Her first sob got through the cellphone before she proceeded to cut the call. She couldn't believe everyone wants other ladies, she was only a side chick. "Bar man!" She called to the man by the desk on the other end who rushed to her. "Get me a bottle of tequila" Mona managed to sniff a little without staring at the bar man. "Are you alright ma'am?" "Just go get my order young man - " The bar man left leaving Mona in her depressed state. She kept on wondering if nature would be any kind to her and get her a young man who would make up for her desires. Her cellphone rang three times at a row but she ignored the calls, it was Scott anyways. The bar man returned with a bottle of drink and a cup for her. "Take it easy ma'am, the alcohol content of this drink is a bit high for you" Mona looked up to the bar man with her blood shot eyes from crying. It was as though everyone wanted to care about her while in the right sense, they don't want anything to do with her. "I can take care of myself" Mona said between anger, depression and frustration. The only way to forget her tears and pain is taking alcohol and that she will do, definitely! Quickly, she poured the first two shots and gulped it down almost immediately. It was really helping given that her mind became much lighter and clearer. ____ Scott was a bit confused staring into his cellphone. Mona had just let out a sob before ending the call. Did her stupid boss do anything stupid to her? He would make sure he deals with him if he was behind Mona's tears. But on a second thought, Pina had picked his call even before he entered the room. He had made a big mistake of his life by sleeping in Pina's house. What right did she have to answer his calls? "What exactly did you say to her?" He turned angrily to Pina ready blame her for Mona's tears. To him, no one was worthy enough to cause Mona to cry, not even himself. "Nothing! Just that I said you slept over at my house - " Pina couldn't finish her last words when Scott held her throat angrily trying to strangle her. She struggled to break free but Scott's hands were unusually strong. "How dare you answer my calls! That you were privileged to have a taste of me in my ignorant state doesn't give you any right over me. If Mona ends up leaving me because of you, I swear I'll be your worst nightmare. Mark my words!" Scott finally released her from his grip and stormed out with his jacket. Pina was left to cough back air into her throat before she gently sank into her bed. Mona is really making things worse for her and she will end up having a taste of her fury. She gently clenched her fists holding the bedspread tightly with the other hand still on her neck. ____ Mona staggered towards the door. If there was nothing to be happy about, she was really happy she had forgotten what initially caused her tears. The alcohol made her feel on top of the world and above her problems and pains. The only thing her mind ached for now was sleep. She barely managed to find her way back to their hotel room. She forgot how to knock on the door when she got there, instead she relaxed her body on the door making a little noise which crept into Daren's ears. Normally, he would have been in bed by now but he was anxiously waiting for Mona who believed must have something troubling her given the way she left the room. From the noise he heard just outside the door, he felt Mona must have returned from the bar. Without thinking further, he made for the door and opened it in a rush wanting to yell at Mona for staying out so late at the bar but his heart melted when Mona lost her balance on the door and landed on the floor. Daren tried to understand what was happening to her, when he saw her move a bit trying to stand he realized she was drunk. "Damn! Mona! Why did you have to get drunk?" Daren tried to help her up but her legs seemed rather too weak to stand any longer before she fell into Daren's arms. He held her tightly and managed to shut the door. His sturdy chest seemed to enjoy her boobs caressing it while he was holding her. The stench from her mouth forced him to hold his breath while trying to help her to the bed, he only managed to breathe occasionally to avoid inhaling the could odour from her mouth. As he was about to lift Mona, she vomitted on shirt which further went down to the floor, staining his neat white shirt and the floor. Mona was not aware of what was happening to her but she knew she had vomited, her mouth twitched and regained its posture. Daren was frozen at the spot, his feeling was a mixture of anger and pity for Mona. What must have forced the poor girl to drink herself to stupor? On the other hand, his clothes reeked from the stench of her vomit. He slowly swallowed the anger in him and carefully laid Mona on the bed. He carefully avoided his stained clothes from making contact with hers on the bed. As soon as he dropped her to the bed, he took off his shirt carefully avoiding contact with the stained spots and used it to wipe the vomit on the floor. He would sure rebuke Mona for being to stupid tonight. He sighed before throwing his precious shirt into the garbage can, he would get a new one anyways. He turned to Mona's beautiful figure laid across the bed, too beautiful even in her sleep. He realized his gaze was locked on her boobs, her goods were heavily packaged in the tight tank top she was wearing. He moved to the other side of the bed and thought to glance at her face one last time before going to sleep but what he saw shook him the more. There were traces of dried tears on Mona's pretty face. Her face was red and her eyelid were swollen. He quickly concluded one thing, Mona had been crying. But what exactly made her cry? Was it the lockdown? No! If the lockdown was capable of making her cry, then she should have shed tears before hand when she first heard the news. What caused her tears? Daren leaned forward towards Mona and slowly wiped her face with the edge of his index finger. Satisfied that her face was clean, he reclined to the bed and stared at the ceiling. He thought how unpredictable life was. They came to South Leone for business, he ended getting stuck in a room with his employee and now they have no idea how long it will take before they part ways because of a sudden outbreak and lockdown. He sighed in relief when he remembered his company in Mugeen is in capable hands at least. He wouldn't have to worry for some time until he figures out how to leave South Leone. He turned to Mona again, she was still fast asleep. Staring at her reminded him of the story his mother usually read to him at nights before he would go to sleep, "the sleeping beauty" Mona is indeed a beauty, staring at the beautiful outlines of her smooth face and skin, her Prince would definitely not be able to evade kissing her calm and succulent lips. He leaned forward over her face to kiss her lip. The urge kept coming as he leaned forward the more but when he remembered she had just vomited due to the alcohol she took, he quickly killed the urge to kiss her and went back to bed.
