Everything is grey,
Everyone is grey.
But we paint black and white on
Everything and everyone.
Nina
Standing in front of the gate, waiting for Amma to come out.
The beating of the heart and guts feels good this time. It all stopped when Amma came out smiling at me.
Inhaling the Jasmine perfume as I hug Amma. She pulls away to kiss my face which I copied back.
" How was the flight?" I asked holding the luggage trolley.
" It was good. Asha booked the first class so I was given juices and snacks. I kept the snacks for you since they are your favourite," Amma answered wrapping her arms around my shoulders as we walked a few steps further.
Rishab takes the luggage trolley away from me while Amma's aura becomes suspicious.
" Asha made sure to hire bodyguards to babysit me," I mumbled in Tamil wrapping my arm around Amma's waist.
" She informed us before sending you here. They are meant to protect you not babysit, Nina," Amma responded.
" How many guards are there?" Amma asked as we sat inside the car.
" I don't know... I never counted," I answered holding Amma's arm.
" Nina, you should be attentive," Amma spoke sternly yet she was feeling nervous.
" We always have to walk on eggshells around you," Sister of Justice shrieked curling her fingers in front of her face.
" Nina, what are you thinking?" Amma asked shaking my leg.
" Nothing," I answer still feeling the shake.
" It looks so different," Amma mutters as she looks out of the window.
" But there are similarities," I mumbled resting my head on Amma's shoulder smelling the Jasmine perfume.
" When is your next appointment?" Amma asked patting my legs.
" A day after tomorrow, " I answered yawning as my eyes felt heavy.
" Did you sleep well yesterday?" Amma questioned making me look at her.
" No... I only slept for an hour. I was excited since you were coming," I answered noticing we were near the cottage villa.
Amma looked at the cottage villa and walked around the garden with an observation lens.
" It's a nice place," She complimented as we walked inside the house.
3Ps and Ansh quickly stood up from the couch and walked towards us. They greeted Amma with folded hands and bowed.
" How was your flight?" 3Ps asked happily.
" It was good," Amma answered and looked at Ansh with curiosity.
" I'm Ansh," He whispered with nervousness.
" Amma, let's go to the room. You need to freshen up," I quickly spoke taking Amma away to the room.
She didn't know about Ansh.
Once the bedroom's door was locked, Amma spoke up.
" Nina, you are living with two guys,"
She looks and sounds pissed.
" I didn't have any choice just like I didn't choose to come here," I muttered sitting on the sofa.
" What are you saying?" She questioned.
" Amma, I wanted to live alone... It's better to feel safe and alone but Asha... You know how she is," I mumbled bowing my head.
" You should have told your Papa or me, Nina," She said sitting next to me feeling angry.
Amma's anger is scary. Amma's anger is scary. Amma's anger is scary.
" After the fight, you guys have to stop listening to me," I whined feeling thickness inside my throat.
" Nina," Amma shouted holding my face.
" We never stopped listening to you," She spoke feeling scared.
I hated it.
" Then why did you send me here?" I question remember that night clearly.
" Papa said I don't need to go to therapy again," I mumbled sniffing hard so wetness doesn't come out.
" Nina, as your parents, we care about you and your future. We want only you to be happy and well in the future that's why you have to go to therapy, " Amma explained with her heart beating fast.
" But I miss you and Papa... I'm living with total strangers here, Amma. I rarely step outside the bedroom feeling scared of what they might do," I said feeling a wet trail dropping from the right side of my face.
" Nina, you don't need to be scared. I'm here and your Papa is working to move here till your therapy is complete," Amma said caressing my hair.
" For real?" I asked feeling the thickness going away.
" Yes," Amma answered and I hugged making her feel happy.
" Nina, those guards and guys don't look dangerous so don't feel scared," Amma mumbled feeling her heartbeat becoming uneven.
She is lying. She is lying. She is lying.
" What are you doing?" Eve barked after breaking the wall I created.
I created the wall again. It's stronger than before.
Amma pulled again from the hug and sniffed. Making the thickness come back.
" I need to take a wash," She mumbled. I walked to the luggage and asked,
" Okay, which bag,"
" The large one," Amma pointed out so I carried it and placed it on the table.
Amma pulls out a bunch of small keys of padlock from her white bag. She opens the luggage and takes out a new set of clothes.
" When did you buy that?" I asked jumping to sit next to Amma and looking at the stuff.
" Asha bought it online during a sale," Amma answered.
Then it's off-season clothes.
Amma walks to the washroom door and peeks inside first. I made sure to keep it dry and hair-free for Amma.
As Amma locked the door, I broke the wall freeing Eve to talk.
" What? Why?" She barked shivering me this time.
" I don't want to continue therapy, " I mumbled lying down on the sofa and looking at the rotating fan.
" What about the mission?" She barked.
" I don't care," I mumbled closing my eyes.
" Since when?" She growled trying to take control.
" After the therapy, I realised this mission isn't so complicated that I have to solve it. Haniya overestimated the mission," I explained.
The saddened lightheaded pulled me as the rotating fan went dark...
Amma shouted holding her chest tightly as red blood poured out. She crawled back breathing hard as the masked man with long claws raised his hand again.
Papa shouted as he hit the masked man with the chair. The masked man stumbled down but a huge wolf jumped on Papa, biting him till he became still.
" Mohan," Amma shouted.
" Long live Aruna Alpha," The masked man shouted stabbing Amma.
" Amma," The pain in my face and leg opened my eyes while my body was cold.
" Nina, what happened?" Amma shouted and I looked at the door as I stood up from the floor.
" Nina," Amma shouted.
" I'm good," I mumbled feeling my heart beating fast.
" Nina," I look at my left side as Amma walks to me and holds me.
" Nightmare," I lied looking at Amma's face before she hugged me.
" A nightmare doesn't mean anything. It's just a bad dream," Amma comforts.
I have to protect Amma and Papa. I have to protect Amma and Papa. I have to protect Amma and Papa.
I have to complete this mission myself.
