Chapter eighteen - You have to let me go

2081 Words
Hunter's POV: Ellie got the same reaction from her parents. They don't want to let her go that far away. I understand them. She told them that I'll be there as well. That didn't change anything. I have to say that there was a good side. If Ellie can convince my mom to let me go, she can go with me. It sounds easy, but it's not. We talk about my mom. She can be stubborn. My friend already has a plan. I liked her idea, but I'm afraid that it won't work. She planned to do something for my mom. It can be one of her favorite activities or make her favorite food. Of course, I will help her with that. I want to go to Miami. That's why I don't see their problem. I will only study there. Nothing else will happen. I'm not a party type of person to get drunk and have a massive headache. Parents. You can't change them. I'll probably be the same when I have kids. There is a long time until this happens. I know they care about me, and I appreciate it. That doesn't mean they have to stop me from going. Ellie said she would come back after graduation. I might do the same. Four years without my parents seems a lot. I'll visit them for every vacation, but it's not the same. First, I need to convince them to let me go. It will be the hardest part. There is no turning back. I hope that Ellie can use her charm on my mom. My friend got a challenge and won't stop until it's finished. The weekend has started. Ellie will go out with my mom. She quickly erased her suspicions. I don't know what she did, but it was enough to convince her. I have nothing to do, so I might stay with my dad. We can talk about this. I'm sure my mom has said what she thinks to him. I want to know what the problem is. I believe there is a reason why she won't let me go. Ellie better do her job. Currently, I'm making breakfast. I told my dad that I would prepare it. Mom went out with Ellie. They will be outside the whole day. That will either end well or badly. I won't think about it. I'm making my best sandwiches. Let's say that these are my favorites. Maybe my dad will like them as well. I have no idea what we'll do later. We don't have something to bond us, but it doesn't mean it's too late. When breakfast was ready, I went to call him. The moment of truth is here. I'll wait for his opinion. - Well? - What? - Do you like my food? - Yes, it's good. I'm surprised you decided to cook. - I can do many things. - What do you want? - Why do I have to want something? - Because you are my son, and I know you. - Fine. I want to know what my mom told you. Did she agree? - Is this why Ellie is with her? - Part of. - What do you mean? - If she convinces my mom to let me go, she can go there too. - Look. Miami is far away from here. We can't let you go. - Why not? I will only study there. After that, I'll come back home. - That's what everyone says. It's not true. - Dad, please. Talk with her. Only you can convince her. - It's not about that. We are not sure that you can take care of yourself alone. - What? Of course, I can. - Look at what happened. - That wasn't my fault. I was careful. - But it still happened. - Please, think about this. I want to go there. - Because of Ellie? - No. I had no idea she would go there until she told me. - I understand, but it's not that easy. - It's not that hard, either. - Hunter. - What should I do to convince you to let me go? - Nothing. I can't let you go. - That is not fair. I don't want many things from you. I won't be alone there. - This doesn't matter. Let's talk about something else. - Dad. - I said something. Don't insist. - She made you do it, right? You have no problem with me being away. - I have no idea what you mean. - Yes, you do. Mom is behind all this. She convinced you to act this way. - That is not true at all. If you have finished eating, we can go out. I have some work to do. Do you want to come? - Give me ten minutes to get ready. - I'll wait for you here. - This is not over. Dad and I went outside. I haven't planned anything, so I'll let him lead. I texted Ellie to check on her. She and my mom will go for lunch. We can join them, but I won't do it. I have no clue if Ellie convinced her. She didn't text me anything about that. In the end, we went grocery shopping. We stayed outside for an hour. Dad and I were at home for lunch. I don't know what to talk about with him. I don't bond with him much. As I see it, we won't talk much. I tried to do it in the morning without any success. - Well. - What? - Nothing. - We talked about this. You know my answer. - Hopefully, Ellie did her job. - Your mom won't agree. - Why are you so sure? If she does. What will you do? - I'll do whatever she says. - Don't you have your own opinion? Mom is not right all the time. - True, but most of the time, we think the same. - I can't understand you. What type of man are you? - A happy one. - What? - When you have kids, you will understand. - I will never cut their wings. - That is what you think now. - I think it's because you have only one kid. I told you I would be back. - Why don't you give up? - I won't. I'm starting to think that you don't trust me. - That is not true. We have other reasons. - Which are? - I'll do some things around the house. If you want, you can help me. - I can help you if you say yes. - It doesn't work this way. - Then, no. - It's your choice. - Dad. - Yes? - Nothing will happen. I promise you. - This topic is over. Don't insist anymore. Nothing will happen. - Why don't you want to listen to me? - I think you are the one not doing it. That was. I won't insist. My dad won't change his mind. I was in my room. Ellie texted me that she and my mom would come home soon. Hopefully, everything went well. If my mom agrees to let me go, my dad will do it too. I heard the front door and went to check on them. Mom looks in a good mood. I wonder what my friend has done to her. Did they go to a hairdresser? Something is different. I can see it. That doesn't matter. I want to know what happened. - Well? How was our day? Say something. Mom, don't scare me. - I'll say it like that. You can go, but there will be some conditions. - Like what? - I'll make you a list. - Don't worry. You will like them. I'm sure about this. - Ellie said - Does this mean that I can go to Miami? - Yes, you can. - How did you do that? - It wasn't easy. But it was enough to make us go there. - Us? Did your mom agree? - I worked on both of them even from a distance. - You are perfect. - Hey, you are back. - my dad said - We are here. - I'm going to Miami. Haha. - I said, looking at my dad - What? You let him go. - I did. Why is that face? - We agreed to something else. - Yes, but there will be benefits for us. - So what? - Dad, what is your problem? I'm not going to another country. - Your mom might have agreed, but I didn't. If neither of us don't agrees, you won't go anywhere. - What? That is not fair. - Can we talk? In our room. - my mom said - I have nothing to talk about. - Yes, you do. - I am going to Miami. - No, you're not. Stop insisting. You are staying here. - he said and left - Don't worry. I'll talk with your dad, and we'll fix everything. - I count on you. - Give him some time. - How much? - Enough. I don't know what is going on. I thought I would've problems with my mom, not my dad. At least Ellie convinced her. That is the good news. I took her to my room. I offered to stay for dinner with me, but she denied it. In that case, I can take her out. We went to a diner for food. She told me about her day with my mom. It looks like they had fun. I wish I could say the same about my dad. I received a message from my mom. He said yes. How? I don't know what she did, but it was enough. - What happened? - Ellie asked - He said yes. - What? Really? How? - I don't know. Mom is great. - Only when she does what you want. - No. - Are you sure? - Maybe. - Where do you want us to go? I don't want to go home yet. - Well, we can go for a walk or drinks. - I think we can do both. - Why not? Are you excited for prom? - I asked as we walked out - We have enough time for this, and no. I don't care about this. - Why? It's the last thing before we graduate. - So? I don't care about that. I planned to skip it. - Really? - Yes. Why are you asking? - No reason. - Tell me. You don't look happy with my answer. - No, it's nothing. - I won't stop bugging you until you don't tell me. - I thought that you could come with me. - What? You want to go to the prom with me. - You are the only friend I have. - If that is the case, I might change my mind. - You don't have to do it because of me. - What if I want to do it? - What? Will you? - At least I won't be bored. - That is true. I'll make sure you have the best night of your life. - We'll see about that. You have to work a lot for that. - I will. You have no idea what I'm capable of. - I would love to see it. - You have to wait a little bit. - Can't you give me a sneak peek? - I would love to, but you might deny the final offer. I can't risk it. - I won't do that. I promise you. - No, thanks. I prefer to wait. - But I can't wait. Please. - Patience. Let's get some drinks now. - Fine. Ellie and I continued with our walk with drinks in our hands. She did a great job today. I planned to take her to the prom since we started hanging out. I'm glad that she agreed to come. I talked with my dad when I went home. He didn't tell me anything. I don't understand what happened. Maybe it's better if I don't know. The good news is that he said yes. I don't care about anything else. Ellie's parents agreed as well. Both of us will go to Miami. I'm excited and nervous. I haven't been so far away from my parents, but I'll survive this. It'll be good for me. I hope that this will end well.
