I sit with my eyes closed and breathe in the fresh air blowing through the open window. This is the last round of blood transfusion. Once this is over, I’ll be at full strength.

Because it needs to flow through my veins to work faster. Knowing that my mate’s blood is replenishing my body makes me feel stronger than I ever have.
The bedroom door opens, yet I don’t open my eyes. No one would dare enter my chambers without knocking. The only person who would or could is Esme. I can smell her scent, and I smile.
I sense her sitting down in the chair beside me. She takes my hand and brings it to her lips, planting a kiss on my knuckles.
I open my eyes and look at the woman I couldn’t live without. “Hello, beautiful.”
