The Altar of Fate**

**Chapter 1:
On the freezing stone floor of the dark dungeon, Evelyn drew her very last breath as the wall monitor broadcasted her husband Julian Vance’s grand second wedding.
Years ago, Evelyn had defied her entire family to run away and marry Julian. But love was a dark illusion—Julian was driven only by physical lust and greed for her inheritance. Once his lust faded, he chained her in a dark basement, subjecting her to endless cruelty. On her final night, while shivering from the brutal cold, Evelyn had reached through her cell window to share her last crust of bread and blanket with a starving stray pup and an abandoned street child.
As her eyes closed forever, a divine, glowing light enveloped her consciousness in a dream, whispering: *"Your selfless kindness in the midst of your own agony has been heard. You are granted a rebirth to right your wrongs."*
A violent gasp shattered the darkness!
Evelyn snapped her eyes open. No dark cell, no frozen floor. She was standing in front of a grand mirror inside a cathedral, draped in a lavish white bridal gown.
She touched her chest in disbelief. It was her twenty-year-old self! Time had reversed five years, placing her right back on the day of her disastrous wedding.
*“My God... it’s real! This is my rebirth!”* Evelyn cried out internally. *“I won't let lust blind me again.”*
When the massive wooden doors opened, Julian stood at the end of the altar with his usual arrogant smirk. Evelyn walked halfway down the red carpet, then stopped.
The music cut off. Amidst the stunned silence, Evelyn unclasped her hands and slammed her expensive wedding bouquet onto the marble floor. She turned her back on the groom entirely and walked straight toward the VIP balcony.
There sat Killian Blackwood—the most dangerous and feared underworld king of the city.
Stepping right up to Killian, Evelyn said softly, "Make me your queen, Lord Blackwood. I’ll hand you the keys to destroy Julian’s empire."
Killian stood up, a deadly smirk touching his lips. He leaned in and whispered close to her ear, "I don't need your secrets, sweetheart... because you aren't alone. The heavens sent me back to this rebirth with every memory of your past life, too. I know everything he did to you."
Evelyn gasped in absolute shock.
Killian locked his fingers with hers and turned to the stunned crowd, announcing, "The wedding goes on—only the groom has changed. From tonight, Evelyn is my queen!"
Below the balcony, Julian’s face drained of all color, while a lethal smile bloomed on Evelyn’s lips.
