Why You Lied to Me?

1115 Words
"you're the best woman that ever walked into my life. remember?" dominic caresses her cheek in a seductive voice. sofia felt melted hearing his confession, but somehow arsenio's confession just popped into his head, reminding him to stay upright and stay true to his original goal. "baby..." sofia put her index finger on her lips who intended to kiss him, "i don't doubt your feelings for me," he said calmly, "if i'm honest i'm grateful to be loved by you, dominic. but i can't stop thinking about what arsenio said about you that's why i'm here. " "i told you what he said was bullshit," dominic answered slightly irritated he was still bringing it up, and for the first time he wasn't affected by his charm talk, "he's trying to mess with your mind with all his bullshit to get you to turn away from me, babe. you see that? all of this is very clear to me." sofia hesitated again with her suspicions, but returned to focus because that wasn't an answer. he decided to press a little by mentioning the woman's name, "what's eva's name doesn't ringing the bell to you?" dominic was surprised with his mouth slightly open before returning to his stoic expression, "eva... the woman who was close to arsenio? what's with her, babe?" "you know him well?" sofia asked again more confidently after seeing a few seconds of panic expression on her face. he had to admit he had good self-control. "you know i avoid making friends with people close to arsenio," dominic gave a calm but difficult excuse to keep his eyes on her brown irises. "i see..." sofia answered briefly, in her heart was disappointed why she had to lie to him which meant proving that arsenio's accusations were true. 'why did you lie? don't you know i'd rather know the harshest facts anyway?' sofia wonders what keeps her from hiding eva from her. is she afraid she won't accept that she has a daughter? not accept that he cheated on her five years ago? suddenly a knock on the door interrupted their conversation. dominic checked the monitor screen, and turned panicked to see who was outside, "arlyne? she's back!?" he was sure he said he was going out of town. "then i'll go." sofia said awkwardly. he doesn't need to hide, he has a reason why he's here, "i'll call you again, dominic." he continued without any enthusiasm at all as he walked to the door. "sofia..." seeing her gloomy face, is it possible... "dominic!? are you inside!? why did you lock your study!?" arlyne's voice interrupts dominic's thoughts. dominic click his tongue, "i'm coming. i'm coming." sofia opened the door, showing arlyne who was wearing her hands on her hips, annoyed waiting. "what are you doing—oh, hello, sofia." arlyne at first wanted to scold dominic, but didn't really know that sofia greeted her, "what are you doing here?" "i'm here to deliver food to dominic." "oh yes?" arlyne came in to check whether what sofia said was true, "you don't need to go to her room, you can leave it to security, sofia." "it's okay, i want to meet arsenio too, so you can meet dominic," said sofia, "see ya." he didn't want to linger, he knew arlyne suspected him. "see ya." sofia glanced at dominic one last time, before leaving with a bitter smile on the corners of her lips. *** 'in the end he lied to me.' sofia had no choice but to find out the secret herself, and she knew who to turn to for help. 'i believe the arsenio room is here.' dominic once told him where arlyne's office is, the possibility of arsenio occupying arlyne's office, who previously served as ceo here, is very large, especially since sofia doesn't see much change in the interior of the building. 'i feel like i'm the center of attention.' the ceo's office is at the far end, sofia has to pass through the other department's office making her occasionally run into employees here, and they seem to recognize her as arsenio's wife from both intense and envious gazes on her. 'i think they hoped to get close to arsenio, but failed because after las vegas, he's not single anymore.' "excuse me, ms." a beautiful woman with long black hair stopped sofia's steps, "from the style of your clothes and your face, it looks like you are the wife of mr. grace. may i ask if you have made an appointment, mr. grace?" sofia didn't like the way she alluded to her dressing style. he could smell jealousy miles away from her, and he didn't care. he read the id tucked into the pocket of the woman's white shirt. a secretary apparently. "i haven't made an appointment yet, but i'm sure arsenio is fine spending five minutes with me, ms. clara." "let me apologize first. according to enzo company regulations. everyone must make an appointment in advance to meet mr. grace, even if you are his wife, ms. harrington." sofia frowned, "i only need five minutes." he knew every company had its own standards, but he had no intention of having a long conversation with arsenio, after all it was still lunch time. he doesn't feel wrong here. clara shook her head "i ask you to follow the rules, ms. harrington or i'll call security to take care of you." sofia clenched her fists. this woman is trying to test her patience. 'it's not worth it.' sofia rolled her eyes. he followed clara's will, turned to walk away from the room arsenio was in. he has other plans. to: arsenio what a lovely secretary you have. he didn't let me meet you. you want me to be treated like that? it's still lunch time. sofia sent the message without thinking. he wanted to see which side he would be on this time. it didn't take long for him to get a reply. from: arsenio i will wait outside my room. you just come here. i'm going to talk to clara about this. p.s. i'll be home late tonight, so you should have dinner first. sofia laughed triumphantly. he could imagine clara's face turning red from embarrassment being scolded by arsenio. to: arsenio you want out? i want to talk about eva. sofia messaged him again. from: arsenio oh? then this is your lucky day. tonight i really want to go to where he has dinner together, sofia. you can come with me. 'so this is the reason he's late coming home?' sofia wrote back that she accepted his invitation. 'i don't want to mess up someone's dinner, but i need the truth.'
