Chapter 15

1529 Words
Davina I am in the woods somewhere that looks to be in the mountain area. I looked up at the sky and there was a full moon shining brightly. I was walking along trying to find my way out when, suddenly, there was a big black wolf with dark grey eyes staring at me. I didn’t know what was happening, but by instinct I began running away from it. It growled and ran after me. Of course, by having crazy speed, it outran me to where it then stood in front and started shifting into a human. I couldn’t see the man’s face, but I was able to notice that he was naked. As I tried backing away, I ended up tripping over a root of a tree. “P…Please, don’t hurt me.” I cried. “Shh…don’t worry, gorgeous. I will make sure you’re taken care of once and for all.” “I don’t know you. Please just leave me alone!” “Strange because I know you. You will receive the punishment that is meant for you!” As I saw claws come up about to strike me. GASP! I sucked in so much air like I was suffocating. I was trying to regulate my breathing and heart rate. That nightmare felt so real. I do not know who or what that was, but that voice. It seems familiar, like I’ve heard it somewhere. I looked at the time and noticed it was 2 AM. I still had some time before I had to get ready but, I was in a panic. I didn’t know if I could go back to sleep.   I tossed and turned all morning until my alarm went off. I got ready and got Melody’s bag packed to then leave her with Kayla. This morning Itze decided to give me a ride to work. She was gushing out how she'd had deep feelings for Kevin but, unsure on how to deal with it, being that she’s never been the type to choose one person. “Davina, is this weird?” “Is what weird?” “That I am smitten with your best friend, and I don’t want to be someone that is crossing the line with anything.” “Itze, I can see you make Kevin so happy and that’s all I want for him. He truly deserves someone amazing, and I am happy that it’s you. I think you are the kindest person I have ever met.” She smiled widely “Now we just need to find someone for you.” “Well, I’m not so sure if I want to date anyone.” “Davina, when was the last time you were with a man?” “Um…almost 4 years ago?” “Jesus Davina! No dates, hook ups or anything?” I shook my head and gave her a shrug. “ OK, yes you must get some soon! OH! I have an idea! We should go dancing!” “Whoa Itze, I am not a dancer and, plus, I have to think about Melody.” “I take it your babysitter knows your situation and is open for you to have some fun. Come on Davina. Let’s live a little!” We got out of her car, walking our way to the back door. “Itze, I don’t even have an outfit that is club material.” “No sweat! You can raid my closet. Please?” I sighed, “You’re not going to let this go, are you?” “Nope!” she said as she smiled. “Alright, so this weekend?” “Yes! Saturday, I’ll pick you up and we’ll get ready at my place.” I was a tad excited but, more so nervous, being that I had yet to experience what it was like going out dancing, but also, I was going to be leaving Melody with Kayla overnight. I trusted Kayla and knew she was going to be just fine but, deep inside, I had this feeling of guilt. Maybe it’s just a mom thing, but it’s just one night. I walked into my position when Malcolm approached my desk. “Davina! Good morning!” God he was chipper this morning. “Email everyone to meet in the conference room in 30 minutes. I have a big announcement.” After sending a few emails and looking at everyone’s calendar, we all made our way to the conference room. When walking in, we were faced with a huge banner that had a wolf with our TEC logo. We all took seats and stared at the banner with amusement and confusion. “Good morning, everyone! I had you all gathered here today for an amazing announcement. As some of you are aware, I had a meeting with Evan Blackwood of Blackwood Enterprise. After going over a few details, we came to an agreement and are now going to be intertwined with Blackwood Enterprise. That means expansion of different locations and possibly implementing more programs onto our own campus.” Everyone in the room began whispering, some looked excited, and others tended to have doubts as to where this might go. “Uh, so we might look into relocation, being that our campus is only sizable with the current programs we have?” “Actually, I was considering doing more of a remodel here. It has the potential and is in good size to have more added,” Said Evan. I turned around and I don’t think anyone thought he was there. He still has that effect on me when I am so captivated just by his looks. “Everyone, meet Evan Blackwood”, Malcolm introduced. “I am excited to be a part of the mission that is continuously done to change the lives of others. I had someone dear to me that had the same vision and I want to continue to be a part of that to flourish. Any questions?” Itze raised her hand. “As the only Admissions Advisor here, if we are now thinking about adding more programs, how am I going to have the leverage to keep up? I know I already have certain numbers I must reach every month but, adding more, it almost sets me up for failure.” “That is a fantastic question and thank you for letting me know of your concern. Actually, we were going to install a position of Regional Enrollment Director. Looking at your numbers, Itze, and I must say they are quite impressive. I was going to give that position to you and allow you to seek out other candidates to fill in the admissions spots. Since it is a work in progress, we were thinking for now opening 3 spots. With your knowledge and experience, I believe you will be able to mold and guide them to the new direction we are heading in.” I was shocked, but looking at Itze’s expression, she was in the most shock of everyone. For as long as I’ve known Itze, she was never the type to be speechless. Itze then asked the question we all were thinking. “So, you’re saying I’m getting a promotion?” “Yes Itze, congratulations,” Evan said. The room ignited in applause and cheers. Itze smiled and looked like she was about to be in tears. I smiled at her and gave her a thumbs up. “Another question, if the facility is going under remodel, how are we to keep up with the scheduled students that are currently enrolled? Are we going to have them on an academic pause or just going to work around the distractions?” one of the instructors asked. “I made sure I was ahead of that. There is an off-site facility that you can all continue to work in. It is a site that I own that has the space and can be used in the meantime so there is no disruption to the schedule.” “What about the equipment we use when doing the lab portion of operations?” “I am going to have them moved over to the site and, as an added bonus, I am also upgrading the equipment to ensure that everyone is getting the proper training when getting their certificate. When you guys come back, everything will be fresh and new.” Everyone clapped and there was so much enjoyment throughout the room. “Lastly to help, I am going to add to the enrollment contract that every student is given an iPad where their apps will be automatically applied, all they will need is their specific logins. Within their iPad there will be something called eBooks where textbooks will now be digital instead of physical. So, they will have all the resources available on just one device.” I looked up to see Evan’s face, and it showed a lot of passion for what he was saying. This showed how caring he was and that he really just wanted to help others and I couldn’t help but think that this made me like him so much more.
