Death is not sufficient punishment.

The vow

My phone rang. I may be more than two hundred years old, but I try to keep up with fashion. I have a phone, and I know how to use it. I took it out of my jeans pocket.

"Hello?"

"It's very rude of you to break my neck. But rest assured that whatever you do, you'll pay for killing Alexia."

"You are a psychopath." I told him.

"If you hadn't ripped Alexia's heart out of her chest, everything would have been fine." he said and ended the phone call.

I'm glad I killed Alexia. I don't feel any regret, guilt or anything else you can think of. I had to do it. I feel like Matteo is angry with me, not because I killed her, but because I don't regret doing it.

I went into the living room to see if June and Henrik were all right. Nope, it wasn't.

And while my psycho cousin was making plans for revenge, I was trying to stop Henrik and June from fighting. Even I didn't know why they hated each other so much.

"Okay, explain to me why you do it every day?"

June looked at me as if to say, "Shut up if you don't want me to tell Henrik about you and Erika!" Her threat was good, but it didn't work. I kept talking.

"You're acting like children. What were you arguing about this time? For money?"

"There will be vampire chaos because of June." said Henrik.

"What have you done, June?"

"She enraged several vampires and now they want to kill us. All of us."

"It wasn't intentional ... Well, it was actually intentional."

"Congratulations, June! More enemies ..." I said desperately.

"We will kill them." she breathed a sigh of relief.

"Well, we have no choice. Death or victory." I announced.

And what did that mean? Wasn't it just a vow of "Death or Victory"? Maybe it's just a meaningless vow for you, but not for us. I have been told since I was very young that victory is at any cost. We never give up, we never lose. Yes, everything is different now, there are no wars, but this so-called vow has become a law for me. And not just for me, for our whole family. It's never easy, but some things are worth fighting for. Some things we cannot give up, even if the hope is completely lost. Every family has an inheritance and this is mine. I intend to fight for "Death or Victory" even if it destroys me.
