Ava's POV
After the rather entertaining encounter with Lucas, I had no choice but run after him.
"Just that Lucas? Just leave?" I asked as I tried to reach him which wasn't that hard given he is wounded.
"At least I deserve to know who did this to you" I added when he didn't say anything.
"I believe we've had enough of the ' I deserve this conversation' seriously Ava, I don't even know how to take everything in"
"Then talk to me, just like old days"
"That's the fact here, it was the old days."
"Please lucas, we've made this vow. Days won't change us. Be it the old days or these days, we've prepared for this conversation" I tried reasoning with him though I couldn't get the sense here too.
"Come " he said while we sneak into his room and I don't know why he has to sneak in as a thief.
"This is your room right?" I asked.
"Yes"
"So why do we have to tiptoe here"
"Because I have a roommate" he said as he continue searching for the said roommate all over the room.
"I know you Lucas, don't try lying that you don't want to wake him up'. You've never been the one to care about people's sleep, you would bounce on me every morning even when I told you I'm not a morning time each of them"
"All clear. Now sit down I promise that I'll tell you everything.
"You say clear as if he is a target" I said laughing and I wouldn't miss the opportunity to put his blanket and sheet and give him the 'I told you that you should make your bed every morning speech'
"Thanks mom" and just like old days I had to make his bed before sitting on it. pweeh!
Somethings never change or let's say some habits
"Okay now straight to the point. I don't like this place but like you said I don't have to" he started and I had to struggle to stop myself from telling him that I didn't mean it. Well I kinda feel like he knows.
"Let's make it simple. I wish I never knew Garza or this whole secret thing at least not until I'm old enough to be here. I feel like these two weeks will be hell for me"
"How did you know it by the way." I asked the question that have been eating me up alive for the past two days I mean one and a half, s**t it feels like a week.
"Well I smacked into my dad's office which was useless but I know this might be crazy but I think I read your mind more like felt your mind"
Now I was looking like a sick puppy and I managed to think of just one word. "How"
"Well I've had that when you focus on someone you might be able to communicate with someone but when I focused on you I was able to feel what you are feeling. Like I feel everything that crosses your mind and at that moment you were only thinking about Garza and the more you thought about it the more you filled me in until I figured out the whole of it."
Great!
"Back to the point. My roommate happens to be one of the 'I'm a vulture guys' and he wants me to join his crew as bad as I don't want to. He always forces me to do s**t I don't want to and I have no choice by to comply. You know that I have to protect my self just in case he decides to go all wolf on me. What would I do when I got trapped in a room with a wolf ready to attack? That have been my worst night made so far." I didn't know I was crying until he handed me his handkerchief.
"I'm so sorry Lucas this is my fault if I have maybe never thought about it that day or something like never actually started this fight at least you might have told me this earlier or maybe..." I blurted everything out until I felt Lucas engulfing me into the tightest hug I've ever had in days.
"Old habit never die. You still blame yourself for everything that went wrong? This blame goes to my curiosity I should have never dug up into what clearly wasn't meant for me."
~~~~~~
I believe I won't have to tell you a lot cause nothing happened really. Except the fact that I'm back to being me and Lucas being him and above all us being us. Running around yaking the same classes. As promised, my three classes one was first aid and fighting because after what Lucas told me, I needed to be a kick ass b***h. And then shifting which I didn't have a choice but take.
Speaking of shifting, today is full moon and it's almost my turn to shift and yes Lucas is besides me as we vowed. Having our first shifts together because we sang a happy birthday song yesterday and by we I mean me and Mia, celebrating Birthdays isn't allowed in Garza.
After a few more kids on my lines take their turn, it was my turn and I made way to the podium. I started recalling everything that was said in shifting class.
As I focused myself to my wolf, waves of pain traveled all over my body as my bones cracked and elongated, As we were told, I embraced the pain rather than fight against it.
My wolf was a massive one considering the size of other she wolves. Aliyah had black fur over her forehead and around her eyes and on her nose while the rest of the face was white. The back and legs was a mixture of black and white and I was getting tired of the eyes of the kids who were admiring me.
"Which color are you Aliyah? One of the numerous elders asked my wolf.
Did I tell you about the classification of course I didn't. When you make your first shift since our world is facing an apocalypse, the moon goddess has mercy on us and gave us extra power. Once you complete your first shift there is a color that blinds your eyes for seconds and that's your powers.
Either blue as the controller of water or red as the controller of fire.
"Violet sir" Aliyah said over a mind link obviously because she can't talk.
"That's not among the classification" the elder replied.
"But sir, I saw a mixture of red and blue" Aliyah replied.
There was a small commotion within the small group of elders no matter how hard I tried to eavesdrop all I got was " It's her, we finally found her". soon Smith joined the elders before he came forward probably to give an announcement.
"Thank you for coming tonight and congratulations to those among us that have completed their first shift tonight. But right now each and everyone of you go back to your rooms now" this time the students had to shout because there was at least twenty more who had to complete their first shift too.
"That's an order" he added and just like that everyone went to their room while one of the elders brought me a long coat to wear. I shift back into my human form and put the coat on.
"Miss Ava, I believe we have a lot to talk about" Smith said as he approached me and left me to the academy.
Am I in trouble? Guess there is only one way to find out. So I followed him.
