The Gift
"Push!" The doctor called out from his place to catch the child coming out of the pack's Luna, the Alpha beside her holding her hand tightly. 9 hours she had been in labour, but finally, there was a tiny crying. The pack doctors all remained silent as they stared at the crying baby the main doctor held. Aksel quickly became panicked at their reactions, momentarily leaving his mate's side to check on his child. His golden eyes grew wide as he saw he had not one, but two children. And one of them had already shifted...
Alpha Aksel felt a sudden sense of alarm followed by a pain in his chest while simultaneously the heart monitor began to make a long and loud beep. Aksel's eyes grew wide as the pain became intense and spread throughout his entire body, causing him to hunch over while gripping his chest. A couple of nurses rushed the babies off to be taken care of while the remaining doctors tried to revive their Luna, their Alpha left crumbling to the floor as he experienced the loss of his mate.
Once she had been pronounced dead, the Alpha was taken to a separate room to rest. Waking up, his first thought was the small glimpse of his children he had gotten before suffering the loss of his mate. Immediately, he was pulling himself up, despite the protest of his wolf he felt in his mind as he still grieved for their mate. He made his way to the pediatrics ward as fast as he could while ignoring any doctors or nurses who tried to talk to him. He could sense where his children were as he stopped in front of the big double doors where they kept newborns without mothers. Quietly, he pushed open the door to see there was only one bassinet in the large room, a second wave of grief was beginning to swell at the thought of having lost not just his Luna but one of their babies. As he walked over to see his child, relief quickly filled him to see that the twins were together. The blonde baby was on her side and cuddled to her sister, a black pup. Despite their loss tonight, he was filled with pride for his daughters and gratitude to the Moon Goddess for blessing him with two healthy heirs. Looking over the blonde, he hummed softly in thought. "You'll take your mother's middle name, Sasha... and you, strange little one..." His eyes passed to the pup, feeling the same admiration as he felt for Sasha. "Well, your mother always loved violets.. they're everywhere." He chuckled to himself as he fought against a yawn. "You'll be Violet, then." He decided softly before sitting in the guest chair that hospitals provided. He spent his days not leaving their side, neglecting his alpha duties, just to make sure his little girls would be okay. Finally, he was able to take them home where he had two elder Omega females waiting to begin helping in the long process of raising two girls.
