Morning sunlight enters Marian's room.

She wakes up slowly.

Then she remembers.

The kiss.

Her eyes widen.

MARIAN:

"Oh my God."

She covers her face with a pillow.

MARIAN:

"I kissed Lee Dong-wook."

She sits up.

MARIAN:

"No. He kissed me."

She pauses.

MARIAN:

"...I didn't stop him."

She smiles.

Then immediately becomes serious.

MARIAN:

"Focus, Marian."

She gets out of bed.

MARIAN:

"You're a doctor. You're thirty-three. You're mature."

She walks toward the bathroom.

Stops.

Turns around.

MARIAN:

"But he's really handsome."

She laughs at herself.

— BREAKFAST

Lee Dong-wook sits at a table.

Marian approaches.

He looks up.

They stare at each other.

Neither says anything.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Good morning."

MARIAN:

"Good morning."

Silence.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Did you sleep well?"

MARIAN:

"Yes."

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Good."

Silence again.

Marian sits.

MARIAN:

"So..."

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"So..."

They both speak at the same time.

MARIAN:

"About last night—"

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"About last night—"

They stop.

Marian laughs.

MARIAN:

"You go first."

He looks at her.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"I don't regret it."

She becomes quiet.

MARIAN:

"Neither do I."

He smiles.

Then he pushes a plate toward her.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Eat."

She looks at him.

MARIAN:

"You're always telling me to eat."

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"You're always forgetting."

MARIAN:

"How do you know?"

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Because you're always busy looking at everything except your food."

She smiles.

MARIAN:

"You've been watching me."

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Maybe."

— THE OLD PHOTOGRAPH

— MARIAN'S ROOM

Marian opens her suitcase.

She takes out an old photograph of her grandfather.

She stares at it.

Her grandfather is standing beside a Korean man.

She turns the photograph over.

There is writing on the back:

"Seoul — 2009."

Marian's eyes widen.

MARIAN:

"Why did Lolo have this?"

Her phone rings.

It's her mother.

MARIAN:

"Mom?"

MOTHER:

"Marian, listen to me."

Her mother's voice sounds worried.

MOTHER:

"Don't investigate your grandfather's past."

MARIAN:

"Why?"

MOTHER:

"Because some things are better left buried."

MARIAN:

"Mom, what happened?"

Silence.

MOTHER:

"Your grandfather wasn't the man you think he was."

The call ends.

Marian freezes.

— THE ACTOR WHO CAN'T ACT AROUND HER

— CAR

Lee Dong-wook drives Marian through Seoul.

She is unusually quiet.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"You're thinking."

MARIAN:

"Yes."

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"That's dangerous."

She looks at him.

MARIAN:

"Why?"

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Because when you're quiet, you're planning something."

She smiles.

MARIAN:

"You know me too well."

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"I've been paying attention."

She looks out the window.

MARIAN:

"My mother called."

His expression changes.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"What did she say?"

MARIAN:

"She said my grandfather wasn't who I thought he was."

He grips the steering wheel slightly tighter.

MARIAN:

"You know something."

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"I know something about my past."

MARIAN:

"And my grandfather?"

He doesn't answer.

MARIAN:

"Dong-wook."

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Not yet."

She sighs.

MARIAN:

"I hate those two words."

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Which two?"

MARIAN:

"Not yet."

He smiles.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"I'll try to find better words."

— SEOUL'S QUIET NEIGHBORHOOD

Lee Dong-wook brings Marian to an old martial arts school.

She looks around.

MARIAN:

"Why are we here?"

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Because your grandfather trained here."

Marian freezes.

MARIAN:

"What?"

The old master walks out.

He sees Marian.

His eyes widen.

MASTER:

"You're his granddaughter."

Marian nods.

MARIAN:

"You knew my grandfather?"

The master smiles sadly.

MASTER:

"Your grandfather was one of the strongest men I ever met."

Marian smiles.

MARIAN:

"He taught me everything."

The master's smile disappears.

MASTER:

"Not everything."

Marian looks confused.

— THE SECRET ROOM

The master leads them into a small room.

On the wall are photographs.

One photograph catches Marian's attention.

Her grandfather.

Standing beside Lee Dong-wook's old friend.

She turns toward Lee Dong-wook.

MARIAN:

"That's him."

He nods.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Yes."

The master speaks.

MASTER:

"They worked together."

MARIAN:

"Worked together doing what?"

The master looks at Lee Dong-wook.

MASTER:

"Protecting people."

Marian looks confused.

MARIAN:

"Protecting people from what?"

The master doesn't answer.

Suddenly—

A window shatters.

Everyone ducks.

— THE ATTACK

— DOJO

Several armed attackers enter.

Lee Dong-wook immediately moves in front of Marian.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Stay behind me."

Marian rolls her eyes.

MARIAN:

"Again?"

She steps beside him.

MARIAN:

"We already discussed this."

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Marian."

MARIAN:

"I'm not staying behind you."

An attacker rushes toward her.

She blocks him.

A fast martial arts exchange follows.

Lee Dong-wook fights another attacker.

Their movements almost synchronize.

Marian looks at him.

MARIAN:

"You're actually good."

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"You're distracting me."

MARIAN:

"You're welcome."

He almost smiles while fighting.

— THE FINAL ATTACKER

One attacker sneaks behind Marian.

Lee Dong-wook sees him.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Marian!"

She turns.

The attacker swings.

Marian ducks.

Lee Dong-wook grabs the man's arm and stops him.

His expression becomes terrifying.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Don't."

The attacker freezes.

Lee Dong-wook releases him.

The man runs.

Marian looks at him.

MARIAN:

"You could have hurt him."

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"I know."

MARIAN:

"But you didn't."

He looks at her.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Because you're watching."

She becomes quiet.

— THE TRUTH ABOUT HER GRANDFATHER

— THE MASTER'S CONFESSION

The master sits down.

MASTER:

"Your grandfather wasn't a criminal."

Marian exhales.

MASTER:

"He was trying to stop criminals."

MARIAN:

"Then why is everyone afraid of his name?"

The master looks at Lee Dong-wook.

MASTER:

"Because seven years ago, he disappeared."

Lee Dong-wook becomes tense.

She looks at him.

He nods.

The master continues.

The master looks toward the photograph.

The master finally says:

"The Black Orchid."

Marian looks confused.

MARIAN:

"What is that?"

Lee Dong-wook's expression becomes dark.

"A network of people who sell information, secrets, and protection."

MARIAN:

"Protection?"

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Sometimes they protect people."

A pause.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Sometimes they make people disappear."

Marian looks at him.

MARIAN:

"And your friend?"

He looks away.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"He discovered them."

— SMALL RESTAURANT

After everything that happened, Marian and Lee Dong-wook stop to eat.

Marian looks exhausted.

MARIAN:

"My vacation was supposed to be relaxing."

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"It still can be."

She looks at him.

MARIAN:

"Someone tried to attack us."

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Only once today."

She stares.

MARIAN:

"That's your idea of relaxing?"

He smiles.

A waitress approaches.

WAITRESS:

"Oppa, can I have a picture?"

Lee Dong-wook politely agrees.

Marian watches.

The waitress holds his arm.

Marian's expression changes.

Lee Dong-wook notices.

After the waitress leaves—

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Are you jealous?"

MARIAN:

"No."

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"You're jealous."

MARIAN:

"I'm not."

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"You are."

She looks at him.

MARIAN:

"Eat your food."

He smiles.

"Yes, Doctor."

— NIGHT MARKET

Lee Dong-wook takes Marian to a night market.

No security.

No mystery.

Just the two of them.

Marian tries Korean street food.

She takes a bite.

Her eyes widen.

"This is good."

"I knew you'd like it."

She gives him a bite.

He looks at her hand.

"Good."

He spins her.

She laughs.

Then they stop.

They stare at each other.

"I like seeing you smile."

Her expression softens.

Lee Dong-wook's phone rings.

His expression changes.

VOICE:

"We found the person who ordered the attack."

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Who?"

A pause.

"Someone connected to Marian's grandfather."

Lee Dong-wook looks at Marian.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Send me everything."

He hangs up.

Marian notices.

MARIAN:

"Something happened."

"Yes."

"Tell me."

He hesitates.

"Someone connected to your grandfather is behind this."

Marian's face falls.

Marian sits quietly.

She leans against his shoulder.

He becomes still.

Then gently rests his head against hers.

"Yes?"

MARIAN:

"Are you afraid of loving me?"

He doesn't answer immediately.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Yes."

She lifts her head.

MARIAN:

"Why?"

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Because everyone I loved became a weakness someone could use against me."

Marian takes his hand.

MARIAN:

"Then don't see me as a weakness."

He looks at her.

MARIAN:

"See me as your strength."

His eyes soften.

— THE SECOND KISS

He gently touches her cheek.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"You really don't know how dangerous you are."

MARIAN:

"Why?"

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Because you make me want a normal life."

She smiles.

"Maybe you deserve one."

He kisses her again.

This time longer and more emotional.

When they separate, Marian laughs softly.

"Why?"

He smiles.

The mysterious man from Episode 2 watches them through photographs.

A woman enters.

WOMAN:

"They're getting closer."

MYSTERIOUS MAN:

"Good."

"What if Dong-wook discovers the truth?"

He smiles.

MYSTERIOUS MAN:

"He will."

WOMAN:

"Then?"

He places a photograph of Marian's grandfather on the table.

MYSTERIOUS MAN:

"Then he'll finally learn who betrayed him."

LEE DONG-WOOK'S APARTMENT

Lee Dong-wook returns home.

He opens an old box.

Inside is a photograph of his deceased friend.

Beside the photograph is a handwritten letter.

He opens it.

He reads:

«"Dong-wook, if something happens to me, don't trust the man who tells you your enemy is Marian's grandfather."»

Lee Dong-wook freezes.

He reads the next line.

«"The person responsible is someone much closer to you."»

His eyes widen.

Suddenly—

His phone rings.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Hello?"

A distorted voice answers.

VOICE:

"You're looking in the wrong direction."

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Who are you?"

VOICE:

"Ask yourself why Marian was sent to Seoul."

The call ends.

Lee Dong-wook looks at the photograph of Marian.

His expression becomes worried.

FINAL SCENE

Marian returns to her hotel room.

She opens the door.

The lights are off.

MARIAN:

"Dong-wook?"

No answer.

She turns on the light.

A photograph is sitting on the table.

It's a photograph of her grandfather.

But there is something strange.

Someone has written a message across it:

"YOUR GRANDFATHER DIDN'T COME TO KOREA TO PROTECT DONG-WOOK."

Marian turns the photograph over.

Another message:

"HE CAME TO KILL HIM."

Her eyes widen.

Suddenly, her phone rings.

She answers.

MARIAN:

"Hello?"

A woman's voice whispers:

VOICE:

"Marian..."

MARIAN:

"Who is this?"

VOICE:

"Don't trust Lee Dong-wook."

Marian freezes.

VOICE:

"He knows why your grandfather died."

The call ends.

Marian slowly lowers her phone.

At that exact moment, someone knocks on her door.

KNOCK. KNOCK.

She looks toward the door.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Marian. It's me."

She doesn't answer.

He knocks again.

LEE DONG-WOOK:

"Marian?"

She looks at the photograph.

Then at the door.

Her eyes fill with doubt
