ACCIDENTALLY IN SEOUL
Episode 1 — THE THREE COLLISION
SCENE 1 — INCHEON AIRPORT
The sliding doors open.
Marian steps into the arrival hall with a suitcase.
She stops.
She looks around.
Her face lights up.
MARIAN:
"Seoul..."
She takes a deep breath.
MARIAN:
"I finally made it."
She checks her phone.
A message from her friend appears:
FRIEND:
"Don't work. Don't answer hospital calls. Don't save anyone for five days. VACATION means vacation!"
Marian laughs.
MARIAN:
"Fine. Five days."
She puts her phone away.
Then she notices a group of tourists taking pictures.
Marian smiles.
MARIAN:
"Okay. First day in Korea. No stress. No hospital. No emergencies."
She pulls her suitcase behind her.
A few seconds later—
A man runs past her.
Marian steps aside.
MARIAN:
"Whoa!"
The man disappears into the crowd.
She shakes her head.
MARIAN:
"Seoul is fast."
---
THE HOTEL
Marian enters her hotel room.
She opens the curtains.
Seoul stretches beneath her.
She takes several pictures.
Then she looks at herself in the mirror.
MARIAN:
"Thirty-three years old. Doctor. Single. In Korea."
She pauses.
MARIAN:
"Maybe this vacation isn't such a bad idea."
She laughs at herself.
MARIAN:
"Marian, you're here to rest."
She grabs her jacket.
MARIAN:
"Food first."
---
FIRST COLLISION
A busy Seoul street.
Marian walks while looking at a map on her phone.
She turns a corner.
At exactly the same moment, another person turns the corner.
BUMP!
Her coffee flies upward.
Marian catches it.
She looks up.
A tall man in a black coat and cap stands in front of her.
His face is partly covered.
It is LEE DONG-WOOK.
He looks at the coffee.
Then at Marian.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Sorry."
Marian stares at him.
MARIAN:
"That's all?"
He raises an eyebrow.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Would you like a written apology?"
Marian almost laughs.
MARIAN:
"No."
She looks at him carefully.
MARIAN:
"You always talk like that?"
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Like what?"
MARIAN:
"Like you're interrogating people."
He looks at her for a moment.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"You're not Korean."
MARIAN:
"Very observant."
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Filipina?"
Marian is surprised.
MARIAN:
"How did you know?"
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Accent."
She smiles.
MARIAN:
"Good guess."
He gives a small nod.
Then walks away.
Marian watches him.
MARIAN:
"Rude."
She continues walking.
She doesn't know that he turns around and looks at her from a distance.
SECOND COLLISION
Marian enters a café.
She orders.
MARIAN:
"One iced latte, please."
She waits.
Someone walks behind her.
She steps backward.
BUMP!
Marian freezes.
She slowly turns around.
Lee Dong-wook.
Again.
They stare at each other.
MARIAN:
"No."
He looks at her.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Apparently yes."
MARIAN:
"You followed me."
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"I didn't."
MARIAN:
"Then explain."
He looks around the café.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"I came here for coffee."
Marian folds her arms.
MARIAN:
"So did I."
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Then we have something in common."
She rolls her eyes.
MARIAN:
"You're annoying."
He almost smiles.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"You're loud."
MARIAN:
"I'm not loud."
The barista looks at them.
BARISTA:
"Your coffee."
Marian takes it.
She looks at Lee Dong-wook.
MARIAN:
"Goodbye."
She walks away.
He watches her leave.
---THE THIRD COLLISION
Hours later.
Marian walks through a shopping district.
She stops to admire a necklace.
She turns around.
BUMP!
She closes her eyes.
Slowly...
She opens them.
Lee Dong-wook.
Again.
They stare at each other.
Marian points at him.
MARIAN:
"Okay. This is ridiculous."
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"I agree."
MARIAN:
"Three times?"
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Three."
MARIAN:
"You're following me."
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"I'm not."
MARIAN:
"Then maybe Seoul is trying to tell us something."
He studies her.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Maybe."
Marian laughs.
MARIAN:
"You know what? Fine."
She walks away.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Coffee."
She stops.
Turns.
MARIAN:
"What?"
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Let me buy you coffee."
MARIAN:
"Why?"
He looks completely serious.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"If we collide a fourth time, I'll assume it's fate."
Marian laughs.
MARIAN:
"And what happens if it's fate?"
He pauses.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"I'll ask you out."
Marian's smile disappears.
MARIAN:
"You are very confident."
He gives her a faint smile.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Sometimes."

COFFEE AND SECRETS
SCENE 6 — THE CAFÉ
They sit across from each other.
Marian takes a sip.
MARIAN:
"So, what's your name?"
He looks at her.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Lee Dong-wook."
Marian nearly chokes on her drink.
MARIAN:
"Wait."
She looks at him.
MARIAN:
"You're THAT Lee Dong-wook?"
He nods.
MARIAN:
"Oh my God."
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"You know me now?"
MARIAN:
"Of course!"
She laughs.
MARIAN:
"I thought you were just a rude guy."
He smiles.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Now?"
Marian looks him over.
MARIAN:
"Still deciding."
He laughs quietly.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"What's your name?"
MARIAN:
"Marian."
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Marian."
He says her name slowly.
She notices.
MARIAN:
"You're saying it correctly."
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"I can learn."
Their eyes meet.
For a moment, everything becomes quiet.
---
THE DOCTOR
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"What do you do?"
MARIAN:
"I'm a doctor."
He looks surprised.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Emergency medicine?"
Marian nods.
MARIAN:
"How did you know?"
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Your hands."
She looks at her hands.
MARIAN:
"My hands?"
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"You watch people differently."
Marian smiles.
MARIAN:
"That's creepy."
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"It's observation."
MARIAN:
"Same thing."
He laughs.
---
THE SECRET
Outside the café, Marian notices a man staring at them.
Her expression changes.
Lee Dong-wook notices immediately.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"You saw him?"
Marian looks at him.
MARIAN:
"Yes."
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Don't look again."
MARIAN:
"Why?"
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Because I told you."
She raises an eyebrow.
MARIAN:
"You don't give me orders."
He looks at her.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Good."
MARIAN:
"Good?"
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"I wouldn't like you if you obeyed everything I said."
Marian smiles despite herself.
---
THE WOMAN WHO CAN FIGHT
THE ATTACK
Marian walks alone after leaving the café.
Two men approach.
MAN:
"Marian?"
She stops.
MARIAN:
"Yes?"
The man grabs her arm.
Marian immediately reacts.
She twists his wrist.
MAN:
"AH!"
She steps behind him.
MARIAN:
"Don't touch me."
The second man attacks.
Marian ducks.
She kicks his leg.
He falls.
She looks at him.
MARIAN:
"Are you okay?"
The man looks confused.
MARIAN:
"I'm a doctor."
She pauses.
MARIAN:
"But don't make me treat you."
Behind her, Lee Dong-wook watches.
His expression is completely different now.
Cold.
Dangerous.
He walks toward them.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Who sent you?"
The men don't answer.
Lee Dong-wook steps closer.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"I asked a question."
Marian looks at him.
This isn't the actor from the café.
This is someone else.
Someone frightening.
---
AFTERWARD
The men escape.
Marian looks at Lee Dong-wook.
MARIAN:
"You're not just an actor."
Silence.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Neither are you just a doctor."
She smiles.
MARIAN:
"My grandfather taught me martial arts."
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"He trained you well."
MARIAN:
"He told me something."
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"What?"
MARIAN:
"Never trust someone who looks too calm."
Lee Dong-wook looks at her.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Your grandfather was smart."
MARIAN:
"Very."
She studies him.
MARIAN:
"Should I be worried about you?"
He doesn't answer.
Instead, he asks:
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Are you afraid of me?"
Marian steps closer.
MARIAN:
"Should I be?"
He looks into her eyes.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Maybe."
She smiles.
MARIAN:
"Too late."
---
THE BEGINNING OF SOMETHING
SCENE 11 — NIGHT WALK
They walk through Seoul at night.
Marian looks at the lights.
MARIAN:
"Seoul is beautiful."
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Yes."
He looks at her instead of the city.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"It is."
She notices.
MARIAN:
"You're not looking at Seoul."
He looks away.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"I know."
She blushes.
MARIAN:
"You're dangerous."
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"You keep saying that."
MARIAN:
"Because you keep proving it."
---
THE PHONE CALL
Lee Dong-wook's phone rings.
His expression changes.
He answers.
VOICE:
"We found the woman."
He looks at Marian.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Which woman?"
VOICE:
"The Filipina."
His eyes become cold.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Stay away from her."
VOICE:
"Why?"
He pauses.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Because she's under my protection."
He hangs up.
Marian looks at him.
MARIAN:
"Who was that?"
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Work."
MARIAN:
"What kind of work?"
He smiles faintly.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"The kind I don't want you involved in."

ACT 5 — THE HOTEL
MARIAN'S ROOM
Marian enters her room.
She locks the door.
She removes her jacket.
Then notices something on her table.
A small envelope.
She slowly opens it.
Inside is a photograph.
A photograph of her.
Taken earlier that day.
Her expression becomes serious.
There is a message written underneath:
"You should never have met him."
Marian whispers:
MARIAN:
"Who are you?"
Suddenly—
A noise comes from the hallway.
Marian immediately switches into a defensive stance.
The door handle moves.
She prepares to strike.
The door opens.
Lee Dong-wook stands there.
She almost punches him.
He catches her wrist.
They freeze.
Their faces are extremely close.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"You almost hit me."
MARIAN:
"You scared me!"
He looks at her wrist.
Then gently releases it.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Someone entered your room."
Marian's expression changes.
MARIAN:
"What?"
He points toward the table.
He sees the photograph.
His face becomes completely cold.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Where did you get this?"
MARIAN:
"It was here."
He takes the photograph.
His jaw tightens.
MARIAN:
"Who took it?"
He doesn't answer.
MARIAN:
"Dong-wook."
He looks at her.
MARIAN:
"Tell me the truth."
Long silence.
Finally—
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Someone is looking for you."
MARIAN:
"Why?"
He looks directly into her eyes.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"I don't know."
She doesn't believe him.
MARIAN:
"You're lying."
He says nothing.
She steps closer.
MARIAN:
"You're a terrible liar."
He almost smiles.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"And you're very difficult."
MARIAN:
"Good."
---
ACT 6 — THE PROMISE
— HOTEL ROOFTOP
They stand on the rooftop.
The Seoul skyline shines behind them.
Marian looks at him.
MARIAN:
"I came to Korea to forget work."
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"And now?"
She looks at him.
MARIAN:
"Now I have a stalker, two attackers, and a mysterious actor following me."
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"I'm not following you."
She smiles.
MARIAN:
"Three collisions."
He laughs softly.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Three."
She looks at him.
MARIAN:
"What happens next?"
He steps closer.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"I don't know."
A pause.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"But I'll make sure you get home safely."
MARIAN:
"Why?"
He looks at her.
For once, his expression is completely sincere.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Because I don't want anything to happen to you."
Marian's heart skips.
She looks away.
MARIAN:
"You're making it very difficult to dislike you."
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"That was the plan."
She laughs.
Later that night.
Lee Dong-wook walks alone through a dark parking garage.
A man steps out.
MAN:
"You're protecting her?"
Lee Dong-wook stops.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Yes."
MAN:
"You know what happens if she discovers who you really are."
He slowly turns.
His expression becomes terrifyingly calm.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"Then I'll make sure she never has to be afraid of me."
The man laughs.
MAN:
"You're falling for her."
Silence.
Lee Dong-wook looks toward the city.
A small smile appears.
LEE DONG-WOOK:
"I already did."
CUT TO:
Marian sleeping peacefully in her hotel room.
Her phone suddenly lights up.
One message.
UNKNOWN NUMBER:
"Ask Lee Dong-wook what happened seven years ago."
Marian wakes up.
She reads the message.
Her eyes widen.
