Chapter 1 I Didn't Kill Her!
Story 1
Roselyn Morse's head was smashed hard on the tombstone, and blood dripped down the name "Bethany Cole" on it. She felt dizzy, and her long skirt was torn, revealing the bruises on her body.
A few days ago, she thought she was the happiest and luckiest woman in the world when she married Liam Barrett as she wished.
But then, everything changed when Bethany drank the glass of wine she handed to her.
"b***h! You made me marry you, aren't you satisfied with that? Why did you kill Beth? Why!"
A sinister and stern voice came from behind, and at the same time, a big hand grabbed her hair and yanked her head back.
Roselyn cried out in pain, but before she could do anything else, her head hit the tombstone fiercely again. She immediately felt a sharp pain in her forehead and saw stars. But now, she couldn't even scream, nor did she know what to say.
Could she say that she didn't use her pregnancy to make him marry her? Could she say that she wanted to have an abortion in the first place? Could she say that Liam's grandfather, Malcolm Barrett, found out about her pregnancy by chance and that it was he who forced Liam to marry her?
Or should she claim that she didn't kill Bethany and that she had no idea why the wine she gave Bethany was poisoned?
She had explained these things to Liam over and over again before she was taken here, but Liam didn't believe her at all. In his eyes, Roselyn was nothing but a vicious and scheming woman.
"Do you think I'll choose you when Beth is gone? No way!"
Liam took out a gun and pointed it at Roselyn's head, yet his voice was colder and tougher than the gun in his hands.
"You and your bastard son have to pay for this!"
"No..." Roselyn squeezed out a hoarse voice through her painful throat. Tears streaming down her cheeks again. "Don't hurt my child..."
Seeing her begging for mercy, Liam didn't feel anything at all. A cruel smile appeared on his face as he said, "You don't deserve to have my child. Go to hell, damn woman."
"Wait!" At this critical moment, an old man rushed over and stopped Liam's crazy behavior. It was none other than Liam's grandfather, Malcolm Barret.
"Liam, are you losing your mind? Rosie is your wife, and she is pregnant! Are you trying to kill her for a maid?"
Yes, Bethany was the daughter of the former housekeeper who worked for the Barrett family. In Malcolm's eyes, Bethany was just a maid.
Liam felt drumming in his temples at Malcolm's words. "She killed Bethany. Shouldn't she pay for her sin?"
"Bullshit!" Malcolm stood in front of Roselyn and said, "The police haven't settled this case yet. I trust Rosie. She is not a murderer. There is something that smells not right about Bethany's death. And I won't let you hurt Rosie and her child again!"
After that, Malcolm asked a servant to pick up Roselyn, who was covered in injuries.
What a poor girl, who was still desperately protecting her baby. Roselyn had fallen for Liam for more than ten years. Liam was more important than anything else in her eyes. How could she kill the woman Liam loved?
Roselyn's swollen eyes were still fixed on Liam when she was taken away. Please, believe her for once. She didn't do anything to hurt Bethany.
Liam met her gaze, and suddenly, he put away his gun and smiled when he said word by word, "Do you think you can get away with this just because of your pregnancy? Sooner or later, I will let you know the consequences!"
Hearing this, Roselyn felt as if something was finally broken in her heart.
She hadn't done it at all. Why couldn't he believe her for once?
"Liam, why have you changed? You wouldn't treat me like this before..." Roselyn murmured in her heart before passing out.
