THE COUNCIL EVENT

Chapter 3 Mireya's POV I wept into my bed that night, my heart feeling as if it was been stabbed at with a needle all over. It wasn't enough that he outrightly disrespected me in front of our pack members, he had to cheat to put the final nail in his coffin. My wolf howled out her agony in me, her spirit dampen. It was as if I was having a nightmare, I would real wish to wake up from it. The pain I was feeling was too much for me. I didn't know when I fell asleep, my hands dropping to the side. Bells rang around me, my eyes settling on the building before me. It was my college building. What was I doing here? By my side a short girl stood, her glasses slipping down the bridge of her nose. Bridget. She had moved away once we were done with college. This was a dream. A dream of the day I had first met Xander. I tried moving my body, to stop myself from meeting him but my body didn't obey. It automatically did exactly what I had done that day. Bridget and I had chatted about the latest anime that we were engrossed in when someone shoulder checked me, sending me sprawling on the floor. I had raised my head to tear into the person when I felt the mate bond, the pull strong and active. Xander had bent down to my sprawled figure, a hand cupping my cheek as he whispered “My mate” I had been so happy, scared and anxious. My fated mate had stumbled into my life, just like that. Many people lived without meeting their fated mate but I had met mine early enough in life. The dream fast forwarded to the day we completed the mate bond. My silver gown shimmered underneath the moon, my Dad clasping my hand tightly in his as he handed me to Xander on the altar. The roar of claps as the priestess declared us mated. The feeling of absolute joy I had felt at that moment, Xander’s hand firmly fixed against mine. I felt like I could do anything and overcome everything. That night he had claimed me, his teeth sinking into my scent spot as how body and mind became one. I had marked him too, my pleasure heightening as I bit into his neck. The happiness that engulfed me when I found out I was pregnant the first time. The shock and look of wonder breaking onto Xander's face as I told him. His caring attitude after I had lost the pregnancy. The way he had wrapped his hands around me while I wept into his chest. Then we tried again but I kept on taking losses until he had no more comfort and care to give me. There were scream matches, fights over the littlest and biggest things. I startled awake as a knock resounded against the door. “Mireya, it's me” My dad announced before he pushed my door open. I sat up, leaning against the bed frame. My eyes were so swollen, I could barely keep them open. “Why did you cry so much? Look at how swollen your eyes are” my father admonished me, peering at my face. “It's nothing, what did you come to tell me?” I asked him, rubbing at my eyes. “The Council said they were going to hold the monthly tribunal at the pack house” He explained. The monthly tribunal was where all the important figures in our world met up. It was a great privilege for it to be held in our pack house. But I just couldn't summon enough energy to be happy right now. “Did you have a fight with your mate?” My father questioned me, eyes looking worriedly at me. “It was just a little misunderstanding” I divulged, my eyes not meeting his gaze any longer. If my father found about what had happened today, I had no idea what he might do to him. I know I shouldn't care about him any longer, but he was my fated mate. We were in for the long run whether I liked it or not. “If you say so, Miya” He patted me on the shoulder, making me lean slightly into his touch. “I am fine, don't worry” I reassured him. After he left, I stood up from the bed. I freshened up, putting on one of my old sweat pants and shirt. I fisted my hair into a pony tail before I exited the room to eat dinner with the rest of the pack in the dinning. I was going to quit moping, at least for now. It was a great responsibility for the pack to host the tribunal. As the Alpha heir it was my duty to make sure everything goes as planned. There was no excuse for mistakes. “Look at her swollen eyes, poor Alpha Mireya” “She should just kill him and forgets she ever had a mate” Murmuring of my pack mates reached my ears, my hands fisting beside me. We all had enhanced hearing, there was no way I wouldn't have heard what they just said. I cleared my throat, looking pointedly at them. They pretended as if they hadn't been saying anything. Ignoring them, I took a seat by my father's side. “For the next few weeks we plan properly for the tribunal, let's all take part in it” My father's booming voice declared, raising a glass of juice as a toast. I raised the glass before me, joining the toast. I was going to put aside my marital troubles and make this Council event a success at all costs. I dug into my food immediately they served me, my zeal returning a bit. There was so much to do in so little time. I was going to put my all into making the event happen seamless ly. And I would show everyone I was more than just my faulty mate bond.
