CAUGHT RED HANDED

Chapter 4 Mireya's POV “I heard you were seen leaving Sally Thorne's house nearly naked” I stated bluntly, watching his facial expression. He swallowed, blinking too fast. His mouth twitched to the side, nose flaring. He was about to lie to me. “What? Where did you here that?” He questioned, eyes narrowed at me. I let out a sigh, not sure where to begin from. “Just tell me the truth, the deed is done already. Just…accept that you made a mistake and let's move on from it” I implored him. “I see you want to force words into my mouth, I didn't go to her house. Even if I did, are you jealousy?” He asked, backing into the wall of our sitting room. “But…it isn't right as a mated wolf to cheat on your mate. I don't necessarily need to be jealousy to ask you about that” I told him, my back flattened against the wall. His face darkened, his hands fisted. Obviously I didn't tell me what he wanted to hear. “Why are you making things up? Do you want us to keep fighting?” I sputtered, anger rising in me. “So, I would find time in my busy schedule to…make up stories about you and another woman?” His lips pursed, his eyes flashing with anger. “You aren't the only one busy you know. I told you the truth already; I didn't go to her house” he gritted out. The thing about cheating was; it isn't done with just one person. Like they say, it takes two to tango. He would most likely slip up. And he wouldn't be able to deny it this time around. “”I am going to the pack house, don't wait up for me” I grabbed my overnight bag from the dining table. “Again? I am sure the pack members living there would think we are fighting” He said as he grabbed my arm. “We are hosting the Council tribunal, of course I have to be present for every planning that goes on” I shrugged off his hold, making my out of the house. “Must be nice to be the Alpha heir, luck me that got to be your mate” It was meant to be a compliment, but it sounded sarcastic to my hearing. His tone had an underlying sneer, that made me pause. I opened my mouth to give him a piece of my mind, but then again, two wrongs never make a right. I swallowed my anger, walking briskly towards my car. I slammed it shut, resting my head against the steering wheel. I felt so drained and it wasn't even 10am in the morning. I drove to the pack house, fuming. The weeks for preparation flew past, the ordering of ingredients, making sure the flowers for decorations were going to get to the pack house on time. Everything ended today. I walked amidst people, a smile on my face as I took in the work we had done. The pack house had been transformed from a mere three story building into a party with different floors. Each floor had several entertainment to offer, the ground floor was where some wolves played games like slap Jack, dart and other games. The second floor was where some wolves played scientists, solving and testing several components together to make something new. The first floor, where I was, here they played chess, Scrabble and other games. I had been worried when I made the plan for each floor, thinking people wouldn't like it. I like how wrong I was, the tribunal was going really well. “And if it isn't the woman of the hour!” I turned around to see it was Alpha Alex Cranberry, Alpha to the Ironfang pack. “Alpha, I hope you are having a lovely night?” I asked, greeting him with a tip of my head. An Alpha doesn't bow to other Alphas. It was revolting to our wolves. “Ah, yes. The setting is splendid, you outdid yourself” He remarked, making my smile become slightly brighter than it was. “Thank you” I beamed, tipping my glass of champagne at him. The main agenda of the tribunal was something my father didn't disclose to me. Apparently it was meant to preventing preying eyes from the meeting which would only include Alphas who were currently the leaders of their pack. “By the way, where is your mate? I wanted to discuss something with him” My smile dipped a bit, the fight we had weeks ago coming to mind. He had refused to admit he cheated on me with Sally Thorne even though he had been sighted going there again. I had seen him walk into the pack house, his eyes wide with wonder. He had looked so handsome in his suit but I avoided him, fearing we would get into another fight. I don't need a fight to spoil the atmosphere today; today started well and it was going to end well. “He should be on the second floor” I answered after peeking into our bond in my mind. Each mated pair, fated or not, have a bond. It consisted of a telepathic connection between their minds that could make your mate see where you were and what you are doing. It makes them about to communicate without seeing each other physical. The bond can be blocked by a mate for any reason whatsoever, in my case it was pure luck Xander had left his open. Ever since we completed the mate bond, he had always kept me blocked out of his mind. He pinned it on him been alone for a long time and he needs time to adapt to having someone in his head all the time. I took the elevator to the second floor, curious to what he was doing that made him open the blocked path to his mind. The elevator pinged open, I lifted my dress up slightly to avoid stumbling. My eyes moved through the throng of people, looking for Xander. I sighted home by the bar, my elbow resting on the bar top. I let out a sigh, praying to the moongodess we don't explode on each other this night. As I approached him, I saw a blonde head peeking out from over his shoulder. Maybe he was chatting with someone. As soon as I neared them, I knew they weren't talking. Flirting. That was what they were doing. His hands rested on her petite waist, her hands were wrapped around his neck, her fingers locking behind his neck. I felt myself grow hot, so hot I felt like I was going to explode w ith anger. I power walked to where they stood, my hands tightening around my glass.
