Chapter 4

Karissa's POV

I had come out of Alpha Kane's room, a few hours after he had left. There were no guards in the hallway of his room and when I stepped out of the building, the guards all looked at me in awe. I ignored them and walked towards the shabby looking building that housed us the slaves.

Every guard that I passed made sure to steer clear from me as if they were afraid to touch me. I made no effort to ask, I just wanted to enter that ugly looking room and lay on my makeshift mat then drift to sleep while contemplating on what exactly had transpired between Kane and I.

A small number of growls brought me back to my senses as I opened a door that was identical to my room door. Scared of whatever or whoever it has been, I entered the room and closed the door. A few seconds after I entered, I was pounced on by someone whose growl rumbled deep.

"Karissa?" It was Leo. He immediately let go of me and stepped back.

"Oh, thank goodness you're alive Leo." I sighed then hugged him. Surprisingly, he pushed me off with force.

"Uh, Rissa. You have to give me space. You have a really terrifying smell on you. It feels like either you would kill me or the owner of the smell would." Leo breathed.

"Smell?" I was perplexed.

"I'm sure you haven't noticed but my roommates have not moved an inch since you stepped in that door." He pointed out and I looked around. They truly looked scared but their teeth were bare as if they would bite any time soon.

"What does it mean?" I asked him. "Did you know that I was a werewolf? Or that these people were?"

"Calm down Karissa. I knew because I am one too. These people didn't adopt any humans from their raids. Just werewolves." He shrugged.

From what he had just said, it meant that Nana was also an omega wolf as they have been calling her. If so, she could be influenced by that aura smell thing the first Alpha had used on me. I gasped in shock.

"Nana is danger!" I wanted to cry. I had promised to take care and protect her but here I was.

"She is not. They would be able to tell that she is underage her wolf hasn't manifested," he laughed.

"I have missed you so much, Leo." I tried not to hug him this time.

"I'm glad you are alive, Rissa but where are you coming from?" He asked me. There was concern in his voice.

"I was selected to serve Alpha Kane today." I informed and growls followed.

"Get your unsuspecting wench out of our prison room before he comes to kill us." One guy said in anger. What did he mean by that?

"Alpha Kane? Did you really serve him?" I nodded even though it was half truth.

"Lady won't even last the night before she dies. They all do." Another guy said. Leo stood up and opened the door for us to leave the room.

"Why are they saying those things about Alpha Kane?" I asked as Leo walked with me.

He went on to tell me about everything he had found out in these few days that he had been a slave. Alpha Kane was the most ruthless and most feared Alpha. Others didn't want to disobey or disrespect him because of the consequences. There was a rumor that he ate human flesh which was why I had been asked to make the arm stew. Another very potent rumor was that no girl that served him lived past that day.

"So I'll die?" I asked. I didn't even tell him that I rejected alpha Kane twice. That had been disobedient and disrespectful.

I noticed that all the while we were walking, the guards only looked but didn't stop us. Was it really because Kane's smell was on me?

"Hopefully not." His sigh had me scared too.

Just before we reached the building for female slaves, the guards began to cheer and whistle. I smelled him before I saw him.

It was Alpha Kane. Mixed with his smell was the heavy smell of blood.

I watched the direction he walked in from and didn't notice when he picked me up.

"You have another man's smell on you," he growled. His eyes went to Leo. Everything happened fast. Leo was on the ground being overpowered.

"No!" I screamed, tears spilling from my eyes.

"No?" Kane asked as he looked at me. His hand that gripped Leo's neck tightened. "You didn't think properly to stay away from a marked wolf?"

"Alpha Kane, please! I'll do anything!" I was shaking. Too scared to move.

"I could snap his neck off if I wanted. What would you possibly give me in exchange for his little life?"

"Me. I'll give myself to you." I begged.

The guards all started to laugh. I couldn't tell what was funny at all. Someone was being strangled in their presence and the only thing they cared about was to laugh at my pleas?

"Shut up!" Kane said in anger. He already let go of a passed out Leo. The whole camp fell silent. I shook by the legs as he approached me.

"You're offering yourself to me?" He asked without sounding angry. How was that possible?

I nodded furiously.

"For him?" I nodded again.

I heard him snarl before grabbing me by the waist and pulling me close.

"Listen, I can have any other wench in this training camp if I wish. You are not special," each word that left his mouth made me cry harder. He might change his mind and kill Leo. Also, it hurt to hear him talk about being with another woman.

"That delta lover boy is worthless to me and I will take delight in killing him. If you don't satisfy me tonight, he won't see the light of day." Kane smirked before letting me go.

"Leo," I cried and went towards him before Kane spoke to me again.

"Touch him and he dies. I don't care if he's your brother or relative, just don't touch or go near him. Wash up properly before going to my bed chamber. I don't want my w***e smelling like other men." He said finally before walking away.

I noticed then that all through the ordeal, no guard had moved at all until Kane was leaving. The warrior that had come in with him were dragging in a man that looked better off dying than alive.

My fear for Kane increased and what was to come. I left Leo lying on the floor before going to take my bath in the designated area. I just saved Leo's life but I might be dying after my encounter with the Alpha in his bed tonight.
