“Hello, Lynn,” said Alex to the young woman sitting at the desk. “This is my wife, Mariam. Is Brenda in her office?”
“Yes, Sir. It’s nice to meet you, Mrs. Avorn,” greeted Lynn.
“It’s nice to meet you,” said Mariam as she responded to Alex’s tug on her hand and followed him to an office further down the hall.
Alex knocked on the door and waited for a quiet “come in” before opening the door and entering.
Brenda looked up and gave Alex and Mariam a big smile. Mariam smiled back at her. She was surprised to see a woman around 40 sitting behind the desk. She had thought Brenda would be younger.
Brenda rose from her seat and came around her desk to shake hands with Mariam. She smiled at Alex, who was beaming with pride.
