Henry clenched his jaw, swallowing the bitter taste in his mouth. He was torn between the need to comfort Catherina, to ease her pain, and the need to go to Annie, to be sure that she—and the baby—were okay. “I’ll be here, Henry,” Catherina continued, her voice laced with just enough vulnerability to make him feel guilty for even considering leaving her side. “Please don’t go. You need to be here with me, while I recover.
